Dear Citadel Family,
Summer has arrived in Charleston! This means that it won’t be long now until your cadet will report to campus for the fall semester. Do you have your plans in place to finance the Citadel education for the upcoming 2021-2022 academic year? Some of you may still be in need of financial aid to help with next year’s expenses.
We’d like to remind you of several payment options available for the upcoming school year. Please take a moment to review the information below detailing some options to meet any remaining balance.
• Parents can apply for a federal parent loan (PLUS) in order to fund any remaining educational costs. The application is currently available online at studentloans.gov. Please be sure to complete a 21-22 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as well.
• Loans through private lenders are also an option. Review our comparison tool called FastChoice on the front page of our office website for more information. Students and cosigners can apply online with the private lending company. Lenders will notify The Citadel once the loan has been credit-approved.
• The Citadel Tuition Payment Plan is available to all enrolled students. The interest-free plan is organized on a semester by semester basis and can be set up through the Treasurer’s Office. For more information, please refer to the Treasurer’s Office webpage.
Fall semester bills will be available to view on Lesesne Gateway week of July 6, 2021 and are due on August 5, 2021. It is imperative that fall fees are covered by the due date in order to avoid late fees.
The Citadel understands that many students are facing financial challenges due to Covid-19. If your family has been impacted, we suggest that you reach out to our office so that we can determine if an adjustment to your FAFSA is appropriate.
Please feel free to contact our office at (843) 953-5187 or at [email protected] if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships
Please check to see if as of today whether you have filed your FAFSA for the upcoming 2021-2022 school year.
If you are a current recipient of a Citadel scholarship and may be required to file a FAFSA in order for the scholarship to renew. This is your FINAL reminder, if you do not file your FAFSA by July 1, scholarships will be cancelled and/or not renewed.
Please complete your FAFSA as soon as possible online here using your 2019 tax information. Remember, a FAFSA is free to file and must be completed each year.
