[04/21/20]   Goodmorning PSA fam!

As everyone knows, supplies are hit or miss at local stores right now and online orders are delayed so please please keep us in mind when you are doing your shopping. Please let us know if you see Lysol spray or bleach in stores! And if you’d like to grab us any supplies, we would gladly reimburse you! Thank you so much to everyone for all of your help! We would not be here if it weren’t for all of you!

What can brighten a rainy Monday morning even amongst all the pandemic restrictions? Having a group of parents that go out of their way to show their appreciation to the PSA staff for showing up for their children when they still have to go to work. Thank you Mullison, Nash, Smith and Beckmann families for the Chick-fil-A breakfast this morning. Also, a belated big “Thank you!!” to the Myrabo family for the lunch brought in for staff earlier this month. We neglected to take a pic, but it sure was enjoyed!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

The hunt for Easter eggs was on this morning. While we normally do our Easter celebration on a little bit of a larger scale, we still wanted to incorporate some of our PSA traditions. This afternoon they also got to snack on some cupcakes and goodies from Ms. Karen!

Reminder, we are closed tomorrow for Good Friday! We hope everyone has an amazing Easter weekend!

We miss all of our friends that are home! We want to wish them a Happy Easter as well! We can’t wait for everyone to return to school! Please feel free to comment on any post with pictures or videos of your home life! We would love to see our friends at home! 🐰

Good news!! Pictures are here! For those of you who have not been attending PSA, you are welcome to stop by and pick up your packets. Please remember to sanitize hands at the front door. If you prefer to avoid coming in, just ring the doorbell on the keypad to have someone bring it out to you. Still sanitize before touching the keypad. Hours are 7am to 5pm.

Looks like we may have couple of rainy days this week, so if you‘re looking for some indoor learning activities to add to your day, here are a few good suggestions.

Here's some inspiration for the coming week! Several of these activities involve movement and exercise indoors for when you can't get outside.

[03/25/20]   UPDATE!
The city council members voted this afternoon to pass the “stay at home” ordinance for the city of Charleston, which states you must stay home, with the exception of necessary outings (grocery store, essential work, pharmacy, etc) This ordinance also means the closing of all non-essential businesses.
We, however, are on the essential businesses/services list and will remain open!
We will open at 7AM and close at 5PM.

[03/19/20]   Dear PSA family,

So far, and as long as they allow us, we will remain open. We will continue to exhaust all precautionary measures i.e. disinfecting, washing and sanitizing any and everything while doing our best to remain available to our essential worker families. However, we will be implementing a few new measures to help us stay proactive in this unprecedented time:

▫️Effective Monday March 22, 2020 our operating hours will be 7AM to 5PM.

▫️Please remember that we are remaining available for ESSENTIAL WORKERS (medical staff, grocery store employees, etc.) If your child does not NEED to be here for you to work, please keep them at home.

▫️Afterschooler parents will need to remain outdoors when picking up/dropping off your children. The door will be locked in an effort to reduce foot traffic in that building.

▫️Drop off will end at 10AM. Please do not bring your child in after 10AM unless they have an appointment and you call and let us know. We will be making staff schedules according to the number of children that are here every morning.

▫️Tuition, should you decide to keep your child at home all week, will be half. Starting next week, if you are out of work and you keep your child at home with you but you are worried about tuition, please get in touch with Mrs. Karen and she can work out something with you on an individual basis. Even if your child is out for multiple weeks we will need to be in touch with you every week regarding payments.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding anything, please feel free to stop by the front office or call. The safety of our children and staff is our number one priority. Please continue to sanitize before entering and taking your children to wash immediately upon arrival. As always, PLEASE keep your children at home if they are not feeling well. Hopefully, this will all end quickly and we can resume life as usual. Thank you all for your kind words, support, and trust. We are truly blessed to have such an amazing PSA family!

Best regards,
Mrs. Karen

[03/15/20]   As previously posted, we will be open tomorrow. We will be open for our After school children as well. Please remember that after school children need to bring their own lunch when at PSA all day. We will be putting some further guidelines in place, but for now we are asking for parents to use hand sanitizer upon entering the building. Also, as usual , we will have older children wash hands upon arrival, but we are asking parents of younger children to help teachers by making sure to take them to the sink and assist them as teachers are not always able to interrupt their care of children already in the classroom to make sure little ones are washing properly. We will continue to monitor the situation and keep everyone informed as changes may develop. Our normal policies regarding disinfecting surfaces, etc.will go on as well as any extra measures that we can implement to make sure we are making our environment as safe as possible. Please be on the lookout for news and info to be shared.

[03/15/20]   We will be open tomorrow, but are currently putting together our statement and guidelines. We will post more information shortly.

We were so excited to see only 1 book left in the “Readbox” rack this morning. That tells us that more children are checking out all of our awesome book selections that are currently available. There were some returned later this morning so if you want to check one out this afternoon, there are limited selections available. The current #1 seems to be ‘Don’t Push The Button.’ 😂😍

So grateful for our gymnasium on rainy, cold days...

❤️

Check out the Read(like Red)box lending station in the front hallway! We will be changing the selections every month. You may keep them for up to 48 hours and check out more upon returning your selection as long as there are books available in the rack. Create some excitement about books/reading and school! Melting Ice Experiments

The Preschool Explorers have been learning about wind and water for the past couple of weeks. They experimented with melting ice yesterday. They used eye droppers and a baster to get chunks of ice to melt and observed which ones melted faster. It was also a good fine motor development activity.

All about snowmen in the older 3’s class!

We had a blast on our field trip to the Benton House yesterday and I heard several residents say it was the best time they’ve had in a long time! We sang a few Christmas songs and then did some crafts with the help of the residents. Check out some snippets of our trip!

Practicing for our trip to the Benton House next week.

If you missed the craft show last Friday night at Carolina Voyager you still have a chance to check out some of the crafts Ms. Keri and Ms. Lacie made. They are on display and for sale up front! They take Venmo, PayPal or cash!

These two big brothers love to help make sure their baby sisters get safely back and forth across the big playground to the toddler playground. So sweet!😍 BTW, teacher is right next to them, just out of the frame....LOL.

After playing, the preschool explorers were having just as much fun helping clean up the leaves.
