We are proud to provide academic support for all students - from standardized test prep to homework help. We're open 7 days a week, please give us a call!
Our mission is to provide results-based support for students who want to acquire necessary skills and strategies to succeed in any challenging academic situation. Our method consists of incorporating responsibility for data-based action planning, based on current research and proven effective practices while promoting exemplary instruction, supporting expanded accountability, and escalating best practices in classrooms and schools. While this may include assistance with the SAT, ACT, final exams, or basic instructional support, our goal is to create a nurturing learning environment in which students may achieve exemplary education in the state of South Carolina. Our team is dedicated to targeted instruction and collaboration in order to deliver measurable improvements and consistently stellar results. Our academic support service is based on the belief that our clients’ needs are of the utmost importance, and our entire team is committed to meeting those needs. We are proud to support students who help us live up to our name each and every day. As a result, a high percentage of our business is from referrals of clients sharing their success stories with others. Capabilities caters to all students from preschool to postsecondary instruction. It really is a science! Time is always an issue… the time to make a difference is now!We empower learning communities by sharing rich resources in context, encouraging a deep exchange of critical ideas. We support the progression from data to meaningful information to expanded practical knowledge. By using a systems design, multiple streams of information are operating simultaneously and thus increase the speed at which results can be measured. We offer targeted one-on-one sessions designed to meet a student’s specific needs in most subject areas and to empower students to tackle and master content information. The goal of these sessions is to yield significant achievement gains on assessments. We also hold small intensive workshops created to address gaps or secure units of study not previously taught or mastered. Our team also prepares our students for college entrance exams with the goal of achieving exemplary results. We review core concepts for all the major subjects covered on these assessments as well as advising test-taking and time management best practices. Students who have participated in exam prep sessions see an average increase of 4 points on the ACT and an average increase of 130 points on the SAT. As well as providing assistance with college entrance exams, we support our students in their preparation for the GRE. Please call to inquire about our additional services:
- Buist Academy admissions test prep
- Parent and Student Advocacy
- College Planning
- Professional Development
- Teacher and Administrator Training
- Essay Review
- and much, much more!
Operating as usual
Good morning, Capabilities Community!
We have been eagerly anticipating the day when we can safely resume in-person sessions, and we're excited to announce that it is just around the corner! Before that happens, we want to share with you all the safety precautions we will be taking, as well as what we request our families contribute to help keep our learning environment safe, clean, and effective.
- Parents are encouraged to drop students off and pick them up at the end of their sessions. You may enter the building in order to provide payment to services rendered, but otherwise we request that you remain in the parking lot so that we limit occupancy per CDC's guidelines.
- All practitioners will be masked, and we ask that all students do the same. Once you arrive, please keep your mask on for the entirety of your session. (This means that you will need to snack before or after your session!)
- Temperatures will be taken at the door with a no-touch thermometer.
- Hand washing stations and hand sanitizer will be available and we ask that each student who comes in wash his/her hands thoroughly before beginning.
- Indoor stations will be socially distanced—at least six feet apart.
- We will also be offering socially distanced outdoor sessions.
- We have purchased a medical-grade UV-C lamp that kills any bacteria and viruses in the air; we will be using this in both rooms.
- We also have a UV-C wand which will be waved over all surfaces that are touched by students, practitioners, or staff.
We know this list might seem a bit daunting, but it puts us in great spirits, because it means we can bring our community back together in person! If you have questions about these guidelines, please do not hesitate to let us know. Of course, we are flexible to continue virtual sessions when needed.
Thank you in advance for helping us keep everyone safe and healthy—and we'll see you soon!
