Greetings musicians and welcome back!
I hope this e mail finds you savoring the last vestiges of Summer and eagerly anticipating the start of lessons this Fall!

As many of you may already be aware, I spent the end of the Summer moving from Rock Hall, Maryland back to Charleston, SC. We are still putting the studio together and am excited to report that it will be completed this weekend!! I have a beautiful view of Whitney Lake from both my teaching and practice spaces!!! (Thanks Martin!)

Chevalier Musique is an International online studio and has students from all over the world, this makes scheduling lessons and holidays a bit of a challenge. For those of you registered through Miss Stephanie or Outschool, below is your calendar for the year. For those of you enrolled through Toronto Suzuki Piano School you will begin on the 17th of September and Spring break begins March 10.

Coffee Shops will be held the following dates
October 26, 2024 12:00 noon ET (New York Time Zone)
February 15, 2025 12:00 noon ET (New York Time Zone)
April 26, 2025 12:00 noon ET (New York Time Zone)

Most of you have already signed up for a Fall lesson time, if you have not drop me an e mail or text and we will get you on the schedule.

Platforms....Duet is updated and upgraded and I will be using it for all group classes. For private lessons you can use Duet or Musico. whichever works best on your device is fine by me!

We will be having a sight reading Marco Polo challenge this fall, I will send more info about this in September after lessons begin. In the meantime you can download the free version of Marco Polo to your phone and get to know the app a bit. Videos are safe and just between my phone and yours and can not be shared. My phone needs to be saved to your phone in order for Marco Polo to connect us. 703.598.1459

I am thrilled and honored to announce that I am a recipient of the Independent Artist Grant from Kent Cultural Alliance, to support my artistic practice and vision of Vocal Arts, Kent County!

I hope you will join us for our official first concert on May 18 in Rock Hall!!

Today we celebrate composer, performer, and educator, Betty Jackson King's birthday!

Betty Jackson King earned a Bachelor of Music in Piano and a Master of Music in Composition from Roosevelt University in Chicago where she later taught. She was a celebrated clinician, conductor, and lecturer who studied and taught voice, organ, and piano.

She is best known for "Spring Intermezzo" from her Four Seasonal Sketches for Piano and her collection of art songs and Spirituals.

Happy International Opera Day!

Early modern women composers enjoyed tremendous success creating new works in convents, courts, academies, and domestic settings. From their pens we have groundbreaking contributions to nearly every major musical genre of the time, although their accomplishments have often been omitted from historical narratives. In this presentation, we will explore the various venues in which these women worked and take a deep dive into the ways their compositions helped shape the trajectory of Western classical music.
