Last week was another busy and impactful week at the WVSU Economic Development Center!

We kicked off the week by hosting Professional Presence: A Two-Day Workshop on Media & Public Etiquette, bringing together students, athletes, aspiring entrepreneurs, and professionals to strengthen their communication skills, public presence, and confidence in the spotlight.

Then, we were honored to be part of the 3rd Annual Exceptional Possibilities Fashion Show, where both West Virginia State University and the WVSU Extension Service served as escorts for an inspiring celebration of children with disabilities.

The WVSU Economic Development Center (EDC) made its debut appearance at Kids Bash, hosted by FamilyCare Health Centers, and we were thrilled to be part of such a wonderful community event!

A special thank you to FamilyCare Health Centers - WV for having us and creating an opportunity for us to connect with families and young people in our community. Our young visitors stopped by the EDC table and got a head start on their future by working on their very first resume!

We believe it’s never too early to begin building career readiness and entrepreneurial skills.

What a fantastic way to wrap up our Youth Podcast Camp!

On the final day, parents joined us for a special live podcast recording where they had the opportunity to watch their children put their new skills into action. From planning and scripting to interviewing and production, our campers showcased the confidence and creativity they developed throughout the program.

A special thank you to Tyrone Michael, owner and operator of Capitol City Media LLC, for serving as our guest speaker and interview guest. His insights into media, entrepreneurship, and storytelling made for an engaging conversation and gave our young podcasters a real-world interview experience they won't soon forget.

We are incredibly proud of each participant for stepping outside their comfort zone, asking thoughtful questions, and ending camp on a high note. Thank you to our families for your support and to everyone who helped make this camp a success. We can't wait to see where these young voices take their stories next!
