UNISUL offers an HTMT elective, ECON elective, LACS/ANTH and consumer MKTG as well as Portuguese langauage courses. A great base for travel throughout Brazil and Argentina.

Consider spending a semester at UNISUL in Florianopolis or the University of Minas Gerais in Belo Horizonte. A country with such diverse scenery, friendly people and very affordable. Of course one of the emerging markets of the current business world. This will look good on your resume.

If you are studying in Brazil. Open a HBSC account in the USA. They have branches throughout Brazil and you will avoid hefty charges for cash advances from credit/debit cards. Non residents cannot open a bank account in Brazil.


Remember The "Knox Global Scholarships" application opens online December 1st. If you plan to study abroad Spring break 2012 (Service projects) through Spring 2013 apply in this application session. Dec 1, 2011 through Feb. 1, 2012


Planning on studying abroad through Spring 2013. A new SB study abroad Scholarship is being announced. The Knox Global Scholarship. Apply online beginning Decemeber 1. All SB scholarships will be listed under Student Services on the School of Business website.


Remember it is the second largest Octoberfest outside of Munich in Brazil this month!


School starts soon and it is time to think about spring study abroad.


Did you know that a lot of homes do not have central heat in Brazil!


Brazil has many forms of outdoor art from sculpture, statues, mosaics and murals.

Studio apartments with furnture and wifi rent for about $200 per month close to the Federal University in Florianopolis. No need for a car as the bus routes are extensive and reliable.


The School of Business has one student attending UNISUL this summer and fall. He has just arrived and says it is 50 degrees. Hope to see some postings soon!

Global Scholars are invited to a medal ceremony Friday, May 6 10:00 a.m. Tate 202. Family and mentors are welcome. Congratulatons to this years' recipients.


For students travelling to Brazil in June remember to check that your passport has at least six months on it before leaving the USA!


If you are studying in Brazil remember to take all the clothes you need and your sunglasses as they are really expensive. ie: Nike shoes $142 US dollars.

Visit the SB table at the World Cultures Fair Wednesday, March 30th 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Carolina Arena. Global Scholars information will be available. The event will have entertainment, food and booths from many different cultures.

Did you know? Two of Surfings world champions are from Florianopolis. Teco and Neco Padaratz!


July is the coldest month in Florianoplis about 12.4 C. (54 degrees) Often May-August there can be a short summer ie: occurrence of a succession of hot days after the first days of the April winter.

Get a head start on your portuguese langauage. UNISUL offers an intensive langauage course July 4th-August 4th before the semester begins. There is an extra fee for this but is reduced 50% for CofC students. What a great way to start your semester abroad and you get to spend more time in Brazil.


If Brazil is not in your plans consider Dortmund Germany for a summer program. Staff from Dortmund will be at CofC this week. Q & A Beatty 301 conference room. Wednesday, Feb. 23rd 4:00- 5:00 p.m. All welcome.
