The staff of the Cynthia Graham Hurd/St. Andrews Library is pleased to announce the winner of the high school level of the 2022 Annual TeenSpot Black History Essay contest: Breyannah McDonald, a sophomore at Early College High School. For her work, she will receive an Amazon Gift Card, a certificate, and a trophy.
Breyannah's essay was one of more than 100 submissions, each about the most important cultural contributions of the Harlem Renaissance, from Lowcountry students in ninth through twelfth grades.
The Hurd/St. Andrews Library staff would like to recognize and thank all the students who spent time and effort to participate in this year's contest. It was a privilege to read so many wonderful essays crafted to pay homage to the movers and shakers of the Harlem Renaissance.
