Our clinic wouldn’t be possible without the hard work and dedication of our student clinicians. This spotlight highlights some of the amazing students who are growing, learning, and making a real impact in our community!
Student Spotlights as shown above:
1. Mallory Hobday, DPT Class of 2027:
Why MUSC?
"The most important reason I chose MUSC is the pro bono clinic, CARES, which gives us student the opportunity to get real work in clinic experience while also providing healthcare to those who may not have had access previously."
2. Emily Clark, DPT Class of 2027:
Do you have a favorite memory/something you learned in CARES?
"My favorite memory in CARES is when a patient I was working with told me how she thought she'd never get better and would never be able to play with her grandchildren again but coming to
CARES had changed her life."
3. Will Bishop, DPT Class of 2027:
Why OT/PT/SLP?
"Seeing the impact that PT's have on a wide variety of patients is amazing. Visualizing yourself helping someone recover from a total knee replacement or a stroke while tracking their improvements over time and seeing the impact you have on their quality of life was something that I wanted to be apart for my future career."
4. Kayden Douglas, DPT Class of 2027:
Why do you enjoy spending your time in CARES?
"I enjoy the clinical side of my studies the most. For me, I feel like | learn the most through the hands on treatment with CARES. CARES gives me the opportunity to put to practice the skills I am learning in the classroom."

Happy MUSC Day! The mission of CARES Therapy is to provide quality patient-centered physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech-language pathology services to persons in South Carolina with inadequate insurance coverage through an interprofessional student run free clinic. Students in the OTD, DPT, SLP, and MHA programs from the College of Health Professions at MUSC are able to work directly with patients each week through the CARES Therapy Clinic. Please consider donating to the College of Health Professions CARES Therapy Clinic to help support our reopening in January and to help us continue to treat those in need!
