A what a great year it has been.I hope your summer is wonderful. Now is the time to schedule your well child check ups with your pediatrician over the summer .I have posted the 2022-2023 South Carolina Immunization Requirements for Schools as your reference guide for any needed vaccines .
Also,If your child has any medication in the clinic, please come pick it up by June 3.

Congratulation's to this week's "Unsung Educator of the Week", Lauren Jones, Literacy Assistant at Memminger Elementary School

"Lauren has the biggest heart and the most infectious laugh. She truly puts students at the heart of her work. As a Literacy Assistant, she caters to the most fragile students in need of support in language and literacy. She uses her skills and knowledge to connect to every child she meets. If Ms. Jones does not know a child’s name, she makes it her mission to build a relationship and get to know any new face she encounters. Although her title is Literacy Assistant, she has accepted many roles to ensure each student succeeds. Lauren greets each student with a smile and hugs them every day. Her relational capacity with the students transfers to her reading groups as students work diligently on the creative lessons Ms.Jones spends countless hours preparing. Ms. Jones is a firm believer in teamwork and community. She has a working relationship with parents and her colleagues to better serve the whole child which she sees as more than a test score.

Ms. Jones is extremely reliable. She is a faithful servant and shows up to work with the best attitude. She is so reliable co-workers will call her when they are running late and she will assist in any way to maintain students’ routines as this makes for a productive and positive school day. Her dedication to the students of Memminger is beyond amazing. Ms. Jones unexpectantly lost her father and had to travel to Michigan; however, while miles away Ms. Jones video called and zoomed with her literacy groups to check in and support their efforts in her absence. Ms. Jones, makes her students feel safe and loved, but she is also patient and believes in all the students which foster students’ self-esteem. Lauren’s dedication to educating the children of our future is unmeasurable. " -- nominated by a colleague

Kory Roberts, Memminger Elementary

Roberts teaches fifth grade at Memminger Elementary School. Roberts, a third-year teacher, graduated from College of Charleston in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. Additionally, Roberts was part of the “Call Me Mister” program and is a Boys With a Purpose Advocate.

He participated in CCSD’s Summer residency program before joining Memminger’s staff. Roberts is a consummate professional. He epitomizes the highest expectations of his profession. Roberts has been involved with several organizations whose purpose is to lift up students of poverty in high-risk situations, including “Boys With a Purpose.” He is frequently asked to serve on committees and has been helpful in teacher recruitment efforts. Roberts has served as a teacher leader in Summer Enrichment Camp.

One of Roberts’ most distinguishing characteristics is his ability to connect with students and families. As such, he has participated in multiple professional leadership activities such as the 2019 Teacher Summer Residency Program, has held a position as a CCSD Teacher Cabinet Member, and is on the 2022 Planning Committee Member for CCSD’s Summer Enrichment Program.

Hi Parents,
Just wanted to remind you where you can get free COVID testing for STUDENTS and STAFF. Please utilize these testing sites when needing COVID testing for COVID like symptoms(Cough, runny nose, no taste or smell, fever, sore throat- or scratchy throat, GI symptoms) or if you are a close contact to someone who is positive for COVID. Please download the QR code listed below in the link:
Charleston County School District, through a grant from the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control, continues to offer free COVID-19 testing for all staff and students (including CCSD charter school students and staff) every day of the school week at multiple locations, and one on Saturday.

PCR and Rapid Antigen Tests will be available. The tests are for asymptomatic and symptomatic CCSD students and staff.

A third-party vendor assigned by DHEC will conduct the tests. A consent form will need to be completed in advance of testing. Directions to download the testing app to complete the consent form can be found here or at https://rrtesting.app/SCSchools.

Parents should complete the QR code (available through the links above) prior to arriving at the testing site. If a student is tested without a parent, the parent will need to give verbal consent via phone at the testing site. BiNax Now rapid antigen test results are available in 15 minutes, and individuals will receive results via text in three to four hours after the test is completed.

UPDATE (1/20/22) - All testing sites will close at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, January 21, 2022, due to inclement weather forecasts and will remain closed until Monday, January 24, 2022.

The Burke HS testing site is now up and running and will be open 830am-330pm daily.

**All CCSD test sites will close at 12pm tomorrow and will not be open on Saturday 1/22/2022.

All sites will be open as scheduled on Monday 1/24/2022.

CCSD has announced 2 more testing locations: Students and staff can go to the Wando CAS from 7:30a-3:00p M-F, and 4:00p-7:00p M-W-F, and also Lincoln HS 3:45-700p T-Th. The hours will will be unchanged on MLK day and Tues 1/18. Also scroll down this page for the other testing locations that I posted throughout the city. Staff be sure and bring your ID. Parents, please accompany your child for the testing
