Missing our little ones at Memminger. Here is Ms. Baptiste and Veal's class singing "Hola Amigo".
Good evening! What are we going to do about students who don’t have access to the technology needed to access their IXL, Lexia, and other apps that they use at school? Some parents have multiple kids and they are all trying to access these apps with one computer. Being as though the schools close at 4:00pm today, can we make a decision to let these kids get their technology while they are out of school during this unfortunate time?

Hi Mariners and families this is Nurse Cindy. I am hoping all of you are staying healthy, practicing social distancing and washing your hands. Summer will soon be here and this is the time for health checks and updating all the vaccinations that your children may need- well child checks fill up fast, so while at home, this might be a good time to call and schedule for the summer. Upcoming 5K has additional requirements this year – they will need 2 Hepatitis A shots as well as the vaccines they get at age 4. Most children probably have received the Hepatitis A vaccines at prior well child checks, but it’s always good to check. If you are unsure of your child’s vaccine status for your 4/5 year old you can contact me and I may be of assistance or you can contact your doctor. Please get a copy of the DHEC vaccine form with up to date vaccines and bring me a copy. 11/12 year olds need a Tdap booster shot. Although not required until 7th grade, many pediatricians give the vaccine at age 11 or 12. If your child receives this vaccine, please also get the DHEC form. I wish all of you the best. Take care.

Hi Mariners, this is Nurse Cindy with some health tips for Friday, March 27, 2020
Social distancing is important for preventing the spread of the virus, but coping with distancing is not easy and taking care of yourself is essential. Everyone deals with stress differently, but here are some ideas to help you cope with the isolation you may be feeling. Maintain a ROUTINE as much as possible. Try to wake up, go to bed and eat around the same times. Stay as active as possible via you tube exercise videos or online fitness sites. Find activities at home such as playing games, pod casts or doing crafts. Pinterest has many ideas. Stay in touch with your family and friends and allow your kids to call or skype with their friends.. Stay informed, but not overwhelmed. 24 hour news can be a bit much for everyone, rather go to trusted sites for updated information such as the CDC website or the DHEC site or CCSD website for local school information. Remember the kids can be stressed too. This video is a great kid friendly explanation for the distancing: ROBert explains the corona virus to children on You tube. I’m missing all my students and can’t wait to see you soon!!

WOW! So impressed with all of our CAUGHT READING friends!

REMEMBER the CHALLENGE this week is: Let's see those furry scaley friends! If you don't have a pet, a stuffed animal will work too! 🐶🐱🐍🐢🐥

Hi Mariner families, This is nurse Cindy with some more healthy tips and ideas as we work through this social distancing.
Are you and your kids snacking all day. A lot of overeating can understandably occur during this time period due to boredom and stress. Here are some ideas to curb this.
Routines and structure are the key. Try to plan your meal times so that family members will know approximately when it is time to eat. Healthy snacking is ok. One article suggested placing a box with each child’s name in the refrigerator or on the counter with a few healthy snacks for the day. That way your child will know that when the food is gone, their snacking for the day is as well.
Healthy snacking ideas: Hard boiled eggs, hummus, roasted chick peas, raw vegetables, string cheese, popcorn, fruit.
Avoid sweetened drinks- they are full of empty calories. Water is best to drink- at least 6-8 glasses a day!
Get up and move- are you really hungry? Stretch, practice yoga, sit-ups, burpees, run in place. Try not to eat on your bed- it can be a source for increased bacterial and germ growth.
We can do this. We are all in this together.

Here are more instructions to guide you to join Remind. This will enable you to receive quick text messages from the school!

Hi Memminger Mariners,
This is Nurse Cindy. I wanted to give some healthy ideas while practicing social distancing.
Staying at home can be challenging for us all, but we can all do this. Here are some Ideas: Get some physical activity every day. There are many videos on you tube with exercise for children. I found a great one: YOGA FOR KIDS on YOU TUBE called COSMIC KIDS YOGA ADVENTURE. Take a walk, explore your back yard for rocks and shells. Try to stick to routine. Go to bed at your normal school time bedtime. In the morning, get up at or around your normal school time- try not to sleep in late, it will be hard to re-acclimate when school does start back. Get dressed every day- don’t hang out in your pajamas all day (as comfortable as it may be). Any way, I will try to add some healthy ideas while practicing our distancing
