Today we celebrated our latest CREW Award winners! Each grade level gathered in our atrium to recognize classmates who exemplify two important IB Learner Profile traits: being Inquirers and being Open Minded.

We are proud of these Mariners for asking thoughtful questions, showing curiosity, considering different perspectives, and being willing to learn from others. Just as importantly, we love seeing students celebrate the accomplishments of their classmates. Congratulations to all of our CREW Award winners!

Our first graders took the stage and they were amazing! All five of our first grade classes presented Readers Theater performances for their families, showcasing their hard work, confidence, and growing reading skills. Readers Theater is much more than a performance. It gives students an authentic reason to practice reading aloud while building fluency, expression, accuracy, and comprehension. It also helps students develop confidence, collaboration, and public speaking skills. We loved seeing our students shine and are grateful to all of the families who joined us to celebrate their learning!

We are so proud of our first-ever volleyball program at Memminger! Our student athletes have been working hard, learning the game, building their skills, and most importantly, learning what it means to be part of a team. Friday’s student vs. faculty exhibition was a great way to celebrate their progress and bring our school community together. There was plenty of competition, lots of laughter, and some impressive volleyball on both sides of the net. Thank you to our coaches (Ms. Andreas and Ms. Hillis), faculty, families, and everyone who came out to support our Mariners!

Second graders have been participating in Green Heart Garden lessons. They have been learning about different parts of a plant, things plants need to grow and thrive, different components of compost that help improve plant growth, and they also had a culinary lesson where they made their own meal with several different plants! All second grade classes will be rotating through this experience with Green Heart Gardening this year.

Each month we will recognize a member of our Memminger Faculty for being a C.R.E.W. leader! C.R.E.W stands for being Caring, Responsible, Enthusiastic and a Wayfinder. The recipient will sign their name on the paddle and display it proudly outside their classroom or office for the month. We were honored to recognize Alexxis Andreas, 4th Grade Teacher as our September recipient of this title. Congratulations Ms. Andreas!

Alexxis embodies positivity! She makes everyone feels welcomed and a part of her classroom family. She not only teaches her students academics but important life skills as well.

Ms. Andreas is gifted at making connections with her students and creating a calm, welcoming environment. She works incredibly hard to ensure that her students are getting the instruction they need to grow and succeed.

Ms. Andreas always has a positive attitude and a smile on her face, doing her part to lift the morale of our CREW. Ms. Andreas is a CREW leader!

Ms. Andreas exemplifies developing strong relationships with her students. She has such an amazing rapport and kind demeanor every day, all day. She is also working with Ms. Hillis to run our volleyball clinic this fall. She is a super star!

Alexxis always has a positive attitude and is a team player who actively collaborates with her colleagues. She is open to feedback and is always looking to improve her craft.

What a fun night at Memminger!

A huge thank you to our amazing PTO and all of the volunteers who made Family Bingo Night such a success. It was wonderful to see so many of our students, families, and staff together enjoying an evening of fun, laughter, and a little friendly competition!

Events like this are a great reminder of what makes our Memminger community so special. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the night such a memorable one!
