She’s definitely the hero in our hearts!❤️
Congratulations to this week's "Unsung Educator of the Week", Sarah Westervelt- School Counselor,Midland Park Primary School
Ms. Westy- exemplifies the role of a school counselor and is truly the HEART AND SOUL of Midland Park Primary! She models collaboration, respect, and empathy and provides a safe space for staff and students alike. She runs lunch groups as well as small groups focused on character education and student well-being, collaborates with staff and community agencies to secure vital resources like food, clothing, and housing for students and their families, and is always willing to drop everything to support a student (or staff member) having a tough day.
On top of that, Ms. Westy leads the PBIS committee and has planned amazing student-focused celebrations this year, like a holiday movie day and a "golden balloon" attendance parade. She has also taken a lead role on our wellness committee, organizing fun, morale-boosting staff activities such as a healthy recipe potluck and a new year movement challenge.
Ms. Westy is one in a million, and Midland Park is so lucky to have her!! -- nominated by a colleague
