Ashley Hall Alumnae

Ashley Hall Alumnae

This is what friendship looks like! Last weekend in Charleston the @ashleyhallschool Class of 1970 (Ashley Hall Alumnae) had their reunion and celebrated as only the best of friends can and should! These were Mom's classmates and their friendship meant the world to her. We were lucky enough to send down a few #Caramelcakes to be enjoyed and Dad even got invited to join in the celebration.
Together they shared lots of 😂 and some🍰 and even snapped this picture with the #bigredtin!
On Sunday, the Class of 2021 shared their first moments together as newly minted Ashley Hall Alumnae and are now ready to embark on their next great adventure. These 46 outstanding young women were accepted by 111 of the most prestigious colleges and universities in the nation and around the world and garnered a record 3.8 million in Merit Scholarship Awards. PQV Class of 2021! No matter where your journeys lead you, Ashley Hall will always welcome you home!
With time on my hands I am cleaning out old boxes and look what turned up... a greeting card we had in lower school in the 1970’s. It does not credit the illustrator but it brought back happy memories. Anyone remember this?
In honor of Women’s History Month, Ashley Hall salutes women everywhere who have undertaken adversity with confidence and perseverance. These are challenging times, but we know our students will rise to the occasion, just like the long legacy of strong Charleston women they are a part of. Did you know women were first admitted to the College of Charleston in 1918 because of the tenacious efforts of Carrie Pollitzer and the City Federation of Women's Clubs, who tirelessly petitioned college president Harrison Randolph? When admittance was finally granted on condition that a ladies lounge and female chaperon be provided, they raised the needed funds in record time. Ever since, numerous Ashley Hall Alumnae have gone on to graduate from CofC and make both our institutions extremely proud.

Today, February 5, marks National Girls & Women in Sports Day which celebrates and inspires girls and women to play sports, be active, and realize their full power. We thought it was the perfect occasion to announce the 2020 Ashley Hall Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees, student-athletes and notable supporters who have made significant contributions to the Ashley Hall Athletics program.

Alumna Betsy Cahill, Class of 1979, reflected on the exceptional leadership of Head of School Jill Muti, and we couldn't agree more with her beautifully written words. You'll be missed Jill, but your legacy will live on at Ashley Hall forever. #pqv

So what comes after life at Ashley Hall?
For Catherine Dixon ‘19, it’s studying in Vietnam as an international business student in the Honors College at the University of South Carolina. Dixon is investigating the heavy use of plastics abroad as part of her thesis, and we’ve loved following her journey every step of the way! Check out her blog to see what she’s been up to. Good luck, Catherine! (photo courtesy of Catherine Dixon)

Visit to Minh Khai trash village Well, this is certainly one of my less glamorous posts, but it is likely one of the most important of this trip! I apologize in advance for the length…this is somewhat of a soapbox for me. As a student in the Honors College at UofSC, I must write and defend a thesis in order to graduate with honor...
