Charleston Shotokan Karate Club

As many of you know, one of CSKC's very own, MIKAYLA SALAS, recently qualified to become a member of the Jr. USA National Karate Team. Mikayla will be representing the United States at the Jr. Pan American Championships in Costa Rica next month. She is one of only two US athletes in the 12-13yr -42kg kumite(sparring) division, and is currently undergoing a vigorous training regime to prepare for the upcoming event.

In order to help Mikayla succeed at PKF's, WE NEED YOUR HELP!

We couldn’t be more proud of our athletes who wrapped up an outstanding week at the 2026 USA Karate Championships & Team Trials in Spokane, Washington!
Today’s competitors put on an incredible display of skill, determination, and heart.

🥈 Ryan fought brilliantly in Kumite, earning a Silver Medal.
🥈🇺🇸 Mikayla also delivered an outstanding performance in Kumite, earning a Silver Medal and accomplishing an incredible goal by securing her place on the USA National Team! As a member of Team USA, she will represent the United States at the Junior Pan American Championships in Costa Rica this August.

A special thank-you goes to Coach Z and Sensei Taylor, whose outstanding coaching, leadership, and support helped our athletes perform at their very best throughout the week.

🥈CSKC is officially home to a 2026 National Championship SILVER medalist! JOSHUA won 3/4 of his fights today and only lost the gold medal match by a point🤯

Greetings from the 2026 USA Karate Championships & Team Trials in Spokane, Washington!
Our athletes from Charleston Shotokan Karate Club have been representing our dojo with incredible determination, sportsmanship, and heart. While we're saving the full tournament recap until the competition concludes, we're excited to share that our team is enjoying success on the national stage!

We are especially excited to announce that Mikayla has advanced through the first phase of the USA Jr. National Team Trials! She, and the other top 3 athletes in her division, will return to the mat this Sunday for Phase 2.

Every member of our team has represented Charleston Shotokan Karate Club with courage, discipline, and class, and we couldn't be more proud of the effort, resilience, and character they've displayed throughout the week so far.

Thank you to everyone back home for your prayers, encouragement, and unwavering support. Your messages mean so much to our athletes, coaches, and families.

CSKC families and friends: We will send an email as soon as Sunday's competition schedule is finalized with the Phase 2 competition time and a link to the live stream so that you can cheer her on from home. The top 2 athletes on Sunday will qualify to compete in Costa Rica at the Pan American Championships later this year. Additionally, the #1 seed athlete will get the opportunity to represent the USA in Poland at the biggest event our sport has to offer - the JR WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS!

Furthermore, please continue to keep our entire team in your thoughts. Joshua will wrap up his competition weekend tomorrow (Saturday) around 10:30PST, and Ryan plans to finish out on a high note this Sunday at 8am!

Team CSKC is returning to a tournament venue this weekend. This time, our athletes will compete at the USA Open and Junior International Cup in Fort Worth, TX. Please join us in wishing them safe travels and much success!
