With the child at the center, the world as our classroom and 46 years of service to the children of West Virginia, Mountaineer Montessori School offers a spectacular, immersive learning experience for students ages 2 -8th grade. is an independent, community-based, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization guided by an elected board of parents, teachers and community volunteers. Founded in 1976, MMS is West Virginia's original Montessori school, offering a time-tested alternative to one-size-fits-all education. Our program nurtures each child's unique potential and has inspired more than 1,000 students over the years to discover and become who they were meant to be. Remaining true to the vision of Maria Montessori and our founder, lead instructors train at programs certified by the American Montessori Society (AMS) or Association Montessori Internationale (AMI), with collectively an estimated 200 years of experience in authentic Montessori classroom. As an MMS family, you will experience:

* Fully-implemented, authentic Montessori learning environments and a curriculum that educates the whole child, nurturing intellectual, social, emotional and physical development.

* Individualized, developmentally-based lessons and hands-on materials enhanced with small group lessons and class-wide projects and activities.
