As the 2025-2026 4-H year closes out, the start of a NEW, exciting, 4-H YEAR gets closer! 🙌🍀

4-H is open to all youth between the ages of 5 to 21. Youth aged 8 (as of 6/30/26) to 21 (as of 9/30/27) can join as a 4-H member.

Youth aged 5 to 7 (as of 6/30/26), who are interested in the practices of 4-H can start in the Cloverbud program, which focuses more on fun and social activities that set the stage for future learning! 🧠

Hi Friends!

These pesky little bugs have been confirmed in St. Albans, so please keep an eye out and help stop the spread of this invasive species!

Keep an eye out for spotted lanternfly nymphs this summer! This invasive insect has spread to 21 West Virginia counties since it was first detected in 2019. Right now, nymphs are active and easy to spot; they’re black with white spots and develop bright red patches as they grow.

If you see it, squash it! You can also help reduce populations by using circle traps on tree trunks. Unlike sticky bands, circle traps are less likely to catch other insects and small wildlife. If you see a spotted lanternfly in a county where they haven’t yet been confirmed, report it to [email protected]. Let’s help stop the spread! ‼

Confirmed WV counties: Berkeley, Brooke, Grant, Hampshire, Hancock, Hardy, Harrison, Jefferson, Marion, Marshall, McDowell, Mercer, Mineral, Monongalia, Morgan, Ohio, Pendleton, Preston, Taylor, Wetzel, and Wood.

Our Special Guest Facilitator will be Susan Jennings Lantz, Ph.D. who is the Director of the WVU Campus Read. Lantz’s involvement with the Campus Read started with its inception in 2016, and since that time she has organized and encouraged campus-wide discussions.
