It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of Robert Berry, Jr's recent and sudden passing.
Our own Ms. Myra, who worked with the children of Trinity Montessori School as an assistant teacher, was married to Robert for many many years, and have a big wonderful family to prove it. Our hearts and minds are with Ms. Myra and her children during this time of profound adjustment.
Please consider donating to the linked GoFundMe campaign to provide some support and assistance to Ms. Myra so that her energies can be focused on healing, prayer, and family this fall.
Additionally, if you know of anyone outside the TMS community that may have been touched by Ms. Myra or Robert, feel free to share this link far and wide, as their loving and generous influence surely spreads through this community and beyond.
Thank you all so much,
TMS

"Supranature" was Dr. Montessori's word for the collected work, knowledge, and innovation of humankind, and she imbued her methodology with gratitude toward each person, past and present, for their contribution to our current world. It's a pretty beautiful concept.
If you are feeling generous this GivingTuesday, consider making a gift by visiting trinitymontessori.com. As Maria Montessori would have said, "grazie mille!"

A wonderful feast for the children! Thanks to everyone who contributed to this festive occasion! Happy Thanksgiving Trinity family!

The metal inset is a very important work in the Casa classrooms. We say that it is an “indirect” preparation for writing. A child who has gained mastery with her hands is a child who is a capable and Independent student! See the progression from the metal inset all the way to Elementary students who are now studying grammar and writing sentences. The last three photos are six year old elementary children’s writing work. It all begins in Casa!

Maria Montessori observed that children were intrinsically motivated to seek independence. ✨ When adults rush in to help, this disrupts the child’s concentration and causes them to be dependent and less likely to try things on their own. 😔 How can the adult nurture independence?
❇️Leave enough time for the child to accomplish the task
❇️Avoid helping the child with something you know he or she could do
❇️Invite the child to help you with tasks
❇️Have predictable routines
❓What are your tips for nurturing independence?

As usual, Maria Montessori says it best when the rest of us are at a loss for words.

This little student has just begun learning about multiplication using this bead board. She very meticulously places the beads on the board (having to chase a bead that gets away from time to time!). As she was working on her 5s, she got to 5x5 and as she placed the final row of 5 beads she spontaneously said, “now that’s a real square!” Do you see how she made her own discovery? Do you think she will remember and retain that observation later on as she progresses through her math?

We're still enrolling children ages 6 and up! If you've ever thought that the Montessori method might be right for your rising Elementary student, give us a call today!

You might think this little fellow was in trouble—-he’s not! Indeed he’s been working very hard this morning and needed a little break, “Ms. Stacey can I just watch the rain? I really like to watch the rain.” Children know what they need, and they need the space to reflect just like adults.

Elementary students working hard—math, writing, grammar and the love of all of them right now—geography!! They have not only traced and labeled different countries and states, they have also happily researched the different animals that live in those places. It’s busy and exciting here in Elementary at Trinity Montessori School!!

Happy Birthday to the one, the only, Ms. Barbara!! A mainstay in our Infant Room, Ms. Barbara takes care of the Trinity Staff just like she takes care of your babies. Enjoy another trip around the sun!

Trinity Spirit Week, Day 1, is on the books! There were so many great signs brought in with such beautiful messages of Trinity Love, and so many mis-matched socks peeked out above sneakers! The Fun has just begun; wear your school colors tomorrow! Let’s keep the Spirit alive!

GivingTuesday is upon us! Tomorrow is the official Day of Generosity, but we’re in a giving spirit today, just like every day at Trinity. Donate at our page, or swing by the office with a check!
If all our friends and families gave just $40, the impact would be greatly felt here at our little school.

GivingTuesday is only two weeks away!! If all our families, friends, and alumnae gave just $40 to Trinity this month, we would meet and exceed our $2,500 goal like that.👏

This is the famous Pink Tower. It is a sesorial material found in our Casa classrooms. Working with this material helps the child develop their intelligence through touch, seeing and feeling. It helps the child discriminate the differences in dimension and helps to refine their voluntary movement. It indirectly introduces the young child to the decimal system as well!

Who else got caught in the rain today?? We had a lot of soaked Casa kiddos come back from the playground today, but gladly, just as many smiles!

What a first week of school it’s been! Almost too busy to post. But we had our first and (wildly) successful trip to our neighboring Mary Utsey playground yesterday! It’s like mobilizing an army, but it went off without a hitch, and we got help from our friendly neighborhood police officer. These Casa kids are already starting to feel like big kids, doing big-kid stuff!

We had a visitor today! Patrick and his mommy, Ms. Anne Marie! We sure were happy to see them! 🎉💕
