Dear Parents/Guardians,

Capital High School JROTC CADETS will be staying after school on Friday, October 9, 2026, to support the Homecoming Parade.
CADETS will be provided a meal and transportation to the football game following the parade. Parents/guardians are asked to pick up their CADET at the game any time after 8:00 PM.
For the parade, CADETS should wear their JROTC dress uniform if they have a complete uniform available.
If you have any questions, please send me or MSG Timothy Kyer a message through Schoology.

Cadets if you’re interested in being on our JLAB Team stay after school on Wednesday (7th of October).
You will need a fully charged iPad. And we will practice from 4 to 530 on Wednesday and we’ll do that weekly until the quiz takes place mid November. If you’re on the Raiders team and you’re interested you can still do it. I’ll figure out how to get you to take the practice quiz and get the material as well.

The Raiders team continued to improve this weekend at the Nitro HS Raider event. The guys team had a personal best on the rope bridge this weekend!!

Both teams worked well at a team but need to keep pushing themselves not only at competitions but practice. With hard work and determination I believe both our teams can make some noise at these last few competitions.

The Cadets supported Mountaineer Food Bank this afternoon. They worked an assembly line making 360 boxes of food for senior citizens. We have some of the hardest working cadets around, and super glad they were able to work with this great organization!

Capital HS JROTC had the honor of hosting a home Raiders event this past Saturday here at Capital High School. We had 9 different JROTC Raider Programs competing in 6 different events, with over 200 Cadets. Our cadets worked long hours before and during this event to make it happen. We had 3 teams competing (30 Cadets), and 15 cadets supporting the event Saturday. The cadets supporting the event ran the concession, hospitality room, and supported all 6 events (5k Run, Pull-Up Competition, Logistical Relay, Obstacle Course, HMMWV Pull, and Rope Bridge)!! They killed it!!

Our teams put in a strong effort resulting in the following results: Male finished 3rd overall and 1st place in the HMMWV Pull. Females finished 3rd overall and 1st place in the HMMWV Pull as well. Our co-ed team did not, they finished 5th but placed 2nd in the logistical relay and 3rd in the HMMWV pull.

We would like to thank the family members for supporting us as well with food and donations. And we would like to also thank the WV Air National Guard, WV Army National Guard, Army, and USMC for sending professional NCO's to support the Cougar Classic Raider Event.

At Capital High School, JROTC cadets are learning that leadership isn't just about giving orders — it's about showing up for your team. The school's Raider Team

Our Raiders team competed in their first competition this past Saturday at Woodrow Wilson HS. These young cadets represented our program well. Our mixed team looked on point! Always room for growth, but I'm happy with how we performed. I don't know the results yet because we had to leave before the awards ceremony. Will keep you updated!

5K Run / Ruck March: Brutal 5K in the heat of the day. Our cadets completed this task while carrying 3 35lbs ruck sacks.
Military PT Test: 1 Mile Run, 2 Minute Push-Ups, and 2 Minute Sit-Ups. Cadet Toliver finished 1st overall in the 1 mile run and push-ups, way to go young man!!
Litter Relay: This was a tough task. Cadets had to maneuver through the woods and up and over all kinds of barriers.
HMMWV Pull: Pull a military HMMWV 100 Yards. We had the best time when we left of 28:45 seconds.
Rope Bridge: We competed at this as well. One of the main cadets fell sick and we had to pivot on this event. I'm super proud of how we communicated and worked through this event.
