MUSC Dietetic Internship

MUSC Dietetic Internship Medical University of South Carolina Dietetic Internship in Charleston, SC training future RD's!

This internship specializes in Clinical Medical Nutrition Therapy, but also features experiences in other traditional venues (i.e. food service, management and community).This year the internship has added a stronger public health rotation to offer stronger community experiences. This curriculum also offers exposures to non-traditional venues such as culinary, research, wellness. Interns will learn about different racial groups ranging from the young to the old and the sick to the well.

Hey! I am a clinical adult intern from New Glarus, WI! I graduated from the University of Wisconsin- Stout with my Bachelorโ€™s in Dietetics. I LOVE cooking and baking, traveling, gardening, animals (especially dogs and horses) and spending time on my familyโ€™s 108-year-old farm โค๏ธ

I love Swiss/German cuisine! New Glarus, WI is known as Americaโ€™s Little Switzerland and is bursting with dishes influenced by European culture. Wienerschnitzel (thin, breaded, pan-fried veal), Kalberwurst (Swiss veal sausage) and sauerkraut are a few of my favorites!

Some Highlights from SCAND on April 1st:

All of our Interns go to experience their first SCAND today, hearing from RD's from all over the state. They loved getting to go the booths and network.

Our Clinical Adult intern Mackenzie received the Outstanding Dietetics Student Award from SCAND. We are so proud to have her represent the MUSC Dietetic Internship within the state, and we look forward to watching her flourish as she moves forward in her dietetics career!

Today in honor of National Nutrition Month, MUSC Dietetic Interns hosted a Mission of Hope meal packing event, where we packed 40,000 meals for children in Haiti! These efforts supported this year's NNM theme of "Celebrate a World of Flavorsโ€ where we aimed to raise awareness of NNM, cultural food practices, and the need for quality nutrition worldwide.

We are so grateful for all the donations, prayers, and helping hands in this project! We had around 160 volunteers and were able to pack in about 2 hours!!

Happy International Women's Day! This year our internship contains 12 incredible women who are moms, wives, and friends. They are resilient women who will no doubt represent the Dietetic field well in the future when they become RD's. We are thankful for the example of all the amazing female RD's who have worked hard in the past and continue to propel this profession forward. ๐Ÿค
