Congratulations to Mikey Neudecker, Autumn Olive, Colton Balog, Sydney Greene, and Destiny Phillips on being named National Rural and Small Town scholars by the College Board’s National Recognition Programs! 🎓

These National Recognition Programs grant academic honors that can be included on college and scholarship applications and connect students with universities across the country, helping them stand out during the admissions process. 📝

These students earned this recognition by excelling on their PSAT/NMSQT, PSAT 10, or AP Exams, and in their classrooms. Students who may be eligible have a GPA of 3.5 or higher and have excelled on the PSAT/NMSQT or PSAT 10, or earned a score of 3 or higher on two or more AP Exams; and/or attend school in a rural area or small town. Eligible students are invited to apply during their sophomore or junior year, and are awarded at the beginning of the next school year.

Please join us in congratulating some of our top scholars! 👏

🏫The Sissonville High School National Honor Society is teaming up with the Sissonville Middle School National Junior Honor Society to raise funds for Flinn Elementary School and Sissonville Elementary School.

🍿At the elementary schools, if a student brings in $10 it purchases the weekly bag of popcorn the PTA makes and sells for the year. We are raising the funds to be able to purchase all of the students their popcorn for the year!

💬The SHS National Honor Society President, Mikey Neudecker, said, “This all started when Mrs. Pomeroy’s son, Sawyer, came into her classroom and told her about Flinn’s option to pay for their popcorn for the whole year with one payment, instead of doing it weekly. Austin High gave Sawyer the money and said that, ‘he remembers being the kid who forgot to bring their money for popcorn’ which really touched Mrs. Pomeroy’s heart. Then someone had the idea ‘Hey, what if we raised the money for them?!’ and now we’re here. We’re also very excited to work with the SMS NJHS as a community to help our elementary schools out!”

💲If you’d like to donate, payment option are attached on the bottom of the flyer. Also, you can donate by sending your money with your kid to school. They can drop it off in the front office, or bring it to Mrs. Querry or Mrs. Pomeroy. At the middle school, you can give it to your homebase teacher.
