Chinese classes celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival this week!
Lower School students made colorful lanterns, Middle Schoolers learned about traditional festival table settings, and Upper School students created a special book about the festival to share with Lower School classes.

Exciting start for ninth-grade students and their families as they kicked off the college process with an engaging and informative presentation from our College Counseling Office, joined by Rick Clark, co-author of The Truth about College Admission.
Lower School students had a wonderful time celebrating summer reading with special guests and co-authors Mary Alice Monroe and Angela May! First and second graders enjoyed an engaging presentation in the library, while third and fourth graders took part in writing workshops in their classrooms.
All three divisions kicked off Hispanic Heritage Month with a special performance by LS Spanish Teacher Gretel Salcedo-Fuentes and her dance group. Eloise V. A. '25 also shared her study abroad experience in Chile with the Middle and Upper Schools, while Lower School students presented the names of Hispanic countries.
Varsity football proudly wore Porter Military Academy colors at Friday's game against Augusta Christian. Several PMA alumni came to cheer on the team, and a win was the cherry on top!
Congratulations to Porter-Gaud's National Merit Semifinalists from the Class of 2025: Mac F., Ben R., William B., Jeffrey L., and Citlali A. S.! These five students scored in the top 1% on the PSAT exam and will have an opportunity to compete for $2,500 National Merit Scholarships.

We celebrated National Historically Black Colleges and Universities Week with our third annual breakfast, hosted by Zacora A. '25, Genesis M. '25, and Austin S. '25. Upper School students reflected on 9/11 this morning and created advisory posters with messages of care, unity, and strength.
Mrs. Tate's Oceanography students took their learning to the shores! The Upper School students tested water quality at Folly Beach and Ripley Light Marina. They will use their data to compare and contrast conditions between the two locations. ๐
The Upper School Service Fair showcased service opportunities, with 70 junior and senior leaders sharing their passion with peers. Although service isn't a graduation requirement, 60-70% of our students volunteer each year! We're excited to connect with even more non-profits in Charleston and offer new opportunities to make a difference.

Algebra 2 students applied their linear modeling skills by calculating the ideal number of rubber bands for a thrilling (yet safe!) bungee jump for their Barbie dolls. They then tested their models and reflected on how well their predictions matched reality.

Dr. Bauer's Honors Biomedical Science students got hands-on with bacterial culturing by creating art using genetically modified E. coli! This creative approach helped them master basic lab techniques they'll use throughout the year.
Eva Fernandez's French classes recently brought French culture to campus with a game of pรฉtanque, where players toss metal balls to land closest to a small target. After learning the rules, they jumped into action!

MS Chaplain Abbie Panuccio shared a powerful lesson on God's love with her sixth and seventh-grade classes. Inspired by her message, students filled the "Throw Kindness Like Confetti" board with shout-outs and uplifting notes, reflecting our mission to build a caring, inclusive community that honors the dignity of every individual. Porter-Gaud students pack 25K meals for local charities on Senior Day of Caring Students at Porter-Gaud School had a simple mission on Monday.
The Class of 2025 brought incredible energy for the 16th annual Senior Day of Caring! They packaged over 20,000 meals of fortified oatmeal with Harvest Pack in the morning and served at Habitat for Humanity, Pet Helpers, Fisher House, and more in the afternoon. Thank you to Mrs. Tate and our faculty and staff volunteers for supporting this meaningful day!

We were proud to partner with East Cooper Community Outreach and My Sister's House during our used uniform sale, donating old uniform shirts for textile recycling to help them raise funds.
