With our next recital program right around the corner, we wanted to share Murai's performance of Allegretto from last fall's recital! She learned this beautiful piece in only 3 months. Way to go, Murai! β™«

We are now offering piano tuning for our students and are glad to also service any pianos located within the Lowcountry of SC!

Tuning your acoustic piano once per year is necessary for the maintenance of the instrument. Over time strings gradually stretch and fall out of tune.

Additionally, temperature changes and humidity can influence the tune of a piano. Tuning not only only keeps your instrument sounding nice but it also increases the longevity of the instrument!

If you'd like to schedule a time that's convenient for your schedule, you can reach out to us:

We are thrilled to have had four new instructors join our team this summer! If you have been thinking about learning piano, now is a great time to reach out by completing the inquiry form at 🎡

Every moment counts! Here's your friendly reminder to spend time with your instrument today 🎡

Congratulations to all of the students who performed so beautifully in this afternoon's recital program! 🎡

We are so proud of the amazing progress Elijah Garcia (age 5) has made on the piano! He and his mom, Altea, meet Ms. Carol for virtual lessons as a part of their homeschool program. Since they do not live locally, they submitted this video in lieu of this Sunday's in-person recital program! Way to go, Elijah! πŸ₯³

⭐ Student Highlight ⭐

Sophie (student) and Holly (instructor) enjoyed sharing Anton Diabelli's Rondo Allegro Op.163 #6 at the recent recital program! And baby Avery made his debut, too! β™«

As a musician, you may be considering New Year's resolutions that will grow in your studies. Here are a few ideas to get you started:

βœ” Increase your practice goal. Practice is always a good goal; however, make an objective that's measurable. How many days a week would you like to practice and how long will you practice during each session? If you're unsure of an appropriate goal, ask your instructor for their recommendation!

βœ” Is there a challenging song you’ve always dreamed of playing? New Year’s is a great time to resolve to master a challenge!

βœ” Do you tend to practice only one genre of music? Perhaps consider expanding your skill set by trying a song from a different genre of music!

βœ” Consider sharing your music with others this year! Our goal is to have a spring and fall recital opportunity for each student to be a part of! Over the next couple of months you'll receive details from your instructor about how to sign-up. It's never too early to begin thinking of which song you'd like to perform!

Looking for gifts this holiday season? We have shared our favorite keyboard, guitar, and drum set recommendations on our website:

Additionally, music lessons are a great gift to receive! Jump start a friend or family member's learning with a month of private music lessons.

We are grateful to have Naomi on the SCML team!

We are thankful for all of our wonderful instructors, students, and families! We had such a great time at our fall recital, listening to all these students have been learning in their lessons 🎡

Thank you Carrie for the review! We are thrilled to hear the success Holly has had with your children and cannot wait to see where they will go as they continue to grow in their music and learning!

We are so glad to welcome our new client services coordinator, Riley, to the team and Holly's new addition, baby Avery! Lots to celebrate πŸ₯³

"As a young child I was drawn to the language of music. It encouraged me to listen, to move, to learn, and to create. I fortunately had the opportunity to begin formal music lessons during my preschool years and music changed the trajectory of my life as I now work as a music therapist, educator, performer, and church musician.

The benefits of music have affected me during every stage of life; however, some benefits had even greater prominence during my childhood and adolescent years than my adult years. No matter what stage of life you are in, I hope my experiences will encourage you to consider learning a new instrument, picking an instrument back up, or continuing your current studies with renewed enthusiasm."

A: Encourage Creativity!

Here are a few ideas:

βœ“ Role Play: Have your child teach you the basics of music!

βœ“ Mini-Recital: If you have friends/family coming over, have a mini-recital with 3-5 music selections. Your child can even create or design a program!

βœ“ Song-Writing: Our greatest desire is that our students spend time with their instrument. Encourage your child to write music or song lyrics!

Did you know in addition to 1:1 lessons we provide group instruction within the community?

It's been a joy to start the choral program at Compass Collegiate Academy and we appreciate all the support the school has given to establish the program. The children had their first public performance today and it was a joy to hear their beautiful singing!

Shout-out to SC Music Lessons instructor, Ms. Eszter, for directing the group -- incorporating rhythm through body percussion and foundations in music reading through solfege into the scholars' learning! 🎡

World Piano Day is a relatively new celebration! The German musician, Nils Frahm, founded World Piano Day in 2015. He chose the date of March 28th, because it is the 88th day of the year and the piano has 88 keys.

Looking for ideas of ways to celebrate? Consider this list from National Day Calendar:

βœ“ Commit to taking piano lessons
βœ“ Thank a piano teacher
βœ“ If you are a pianist, gather your courage and play the piano in a public space
βœ“ If you took piano lessons as a child, think about reviving your skills
βœ“ Attend a piano concert
βœ“ Listen to piano music
βœ“ Learn about the best pianists of all time, such as Ludwig van Beethoven, Frederic Chopin, Vladimir Horowitz, Myra Hess, and Lang Lang
