I will never tire of learning a person's life story through the sharing of music ❤️
This shark was hungry today and the way to feed him is finding the letter he is hungry for! Great way to practice phonics, letter sounds and articulation.
Having a blast working on visual tracking and expressive language skills using the song "With Our Binoculars." We've got the fanciest binoculars in town 🤣
Original post by the wonderful 😍
"Today was a big day for Campbell! She has a lot of anxiety and fear of the stander. My student Claire and I have been working really hard for over a month to help slowly ease her into trying it out. We created a book about it that we read every week and started out by just saying "hi stander" and being able to even get within five feet of it was a big milestone. With the help of her awesome music therapist Jessica we were able to all work together to create a special song for her about her stander. The distraction of music allowed her to calm herself and try it out - she stayed in the stander for about 10 minutes and realized it's not so bad after!"
Yay, for disciplines coming together for the benefit of our sweet clients! Go, Campbell! 👏
We love teaching piano to preschoolers! Their joy for learning is infectious. Today we played many games that reinforced finger numbers, 1-1 correspondence, auditory discrimination, finger isolation and more.
Charleston Music Therapy is proud to be a James Island Rec Soccer League sponsor. ❤️

Getting prepped for a day on the beach with the Shannon's Hope campers. Music therapy can be a powerful tool as individuals navigate the grief process. The groups will get to choose the mantras that they most relate to and play them in the drums.

Strumming a ukulele improves fine motor skills, bilateral coordination and most of all provides an outlet for a child to make music and express themselves!
Our new piano welcome mat we got for Christmas is just what is needed at the front door of the music studio ❤️
We've enjoyed playing songs like "Silver Bells" and "Jingle Bell Rock" on the hand bells this holiday season.
It made my heart happy when I showed up at a client's house today and his family had gotten me a new cart for Christmas. What a thoughtful gift! My other cart was on it's last leg❤️
We are so grateful for the gift of music therapy and the amazing community we are blessed to work alongside. Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Today the Shannon's Hope campers identified emotions on the feeling wheel with the drums, learned coping strategies to work through grief and lifted each other up in community- all through music. Slide through the photos to check out the gorgeous backdrop for our sessions.

Allie wrote an original composition this summer! It is supposed to sound like birds and frogs in the rainforest. She even learned how to notate her music on the computer. We are so proud of her!
