Our music therapy program with Charleston Music Therapy, LLC is hitting all the right notes!

Each session takes students on a journey—starting with regulation work (like breathing exercises set to song), moving into sensory experiences with scarves or drums for tactile and auditory input, and gradually building toward attention and cognition. From there, our music therapist, Rebecca, gets everyone moving with shared music experiences featuring egg shakers or dance.

Rebecca describes music therapy at Pattison’s Academy as connection, communication, and autonomy: “Music organically regulates, stretches attention, and allows for each student to essentially gain a voice. It is a pleasure to work with so many in-tune teachers and therapists at Pattison's."

‘Tis the season to learn about gratitude! We love listening to “Thankful” by Juicebox Jukebox and naming what we’re grateful for. This song also incorporates vocabulary words like thankful, grateful, appreciate, compassionate and generous. A great way to spark wonderful Thanksgiving conversations with children.
