This Tuesday, April 14th, we’ve got a great way to enjoy a good meal and support an even better cause right here in our community.

From 4–8 PM, 10% of all pizza sales at Ginger Ale’s & Bobes Pizza will be donated to help support Coles County Citizens Against Child Abuse.

Location:
1820 18th St
Charleston, IL 61920

Be sure to like and follow their page as well:

If you were already thinking about grabbing dinner, this is the night to do it. Bring the family, grab a pizza, and know that part of your purchase is going right back into helping kids in our community.

This ties directly into what we are doing all month long.

For the month of April, our donation box here at Charleston Discount Grocery will also be going toward Citizens Against Child Abuse (C**A) in honor of Child Abuse Prevention Month.

Citizens Against Child Abuse stands firmly against the abuse of children and works to support children and non-offending family members right here in Coles County.

They help remove financial barriers that impact the safety, stability, and well-being of children in our area by providing direct assistance for things like:
• Rent and utility help
• School supplies
• Groceries
• Extracurricular activity fees
• Other family-related needs that support a child’s stability

They also provide free community education programs focused on awareness and prevention, and they help coordinate “Band Together for Kids,” which supports families during the Christmas season.

Their mission is simple but powerful: helping remove barriers so children in Coles County have the support they need to thrive.

So this month, if you’d like to help, you can:
• Grab pizza on Tuesday night and support the fundraiser
• Toss some change or cash into our donation box when you check out

We will be resharing this throughout the month, and we’ll also be posting an update on our March donation collections soon.

Good morning, Charleston… and no, this is NOT an April Fools’ joke.

Today is National Sourdough Bread Day, and if you know us, you know we take bread talk seriously.

And honestly?
The best place in town to grab fresh sourdough just happens to be right down the road at The Micro Market Inc at 1505 18th St in Charleston. If you haven’t checked them out yet, you absolutely should.

Their sourdough is the real deal — and our personal favorite is the cheese jalapeño sourdough. It’s dangerously good. Toast it, grill it, sandwich it, butter it, or just stand in your kitchen and eat a slice like a gremlin. No judgment here.

If you haven’t followed them yet, go show them some local love here:
https://www.facebook.com/new.leaf.microgreens.2025

And on our end — we’re expecting a large order coming in today, and we’ll be posting updates as soon as it arrives. We can’t wait to see what deals and finds come in, and we’ll share everything with you as soon as we can!

Support local. Buy the good bread. Eat well.
