About the Founder
I’ve always loved the outdoors and the quiet beauty of nature. My interest in birds began while I was working as a PGA professional at Bulls Bay Golf Club, when I noticed a small heron fishing along a pond. Curious to learn more, I used the Merlin Bird ID app and discovered it was a Green Heron. That moment sparked something in me, a fascination that quickly grew into a lifelong

🍂 Fall migration has officially begun!

One of the first songbirds to begin heading south each year is the Louisiana Waterthrush. Although they nest in parts of South Carolina, they don’t breed around Charleston. By late summer, they begin passing through our shaded swamps on their way to Central America and the Caribbean.

I filmed this bird yesterday in a shaded swamp in Park West, Mount Pleasant. It’s a great reminder that migration is happening all around us—even in our own neighborhoods.

Have you noticed any early fall migrants yet?

✈️ The Top Gun of the Marsh.

Most people think terns only catch fish—but Gull-billed Terns have a different strategy.

Watch as this incredible hunter patrols the salt marsh at Pitt Street Bridge in Mount Pleasant, swooping in to sn**ch fiddler crabs with remarkable precision. 🦀

Have you ever watched one hunt?

A truly wild day at Pitt Street Bridge. 🐢🦅

While leading a charity birding tour for Charleston Audubon with three wonderful local photographers—Joe, Charlie, and Rufus—we were treated to an incredible variety of wildlife.

Around 2 PM on a falling tide, Black Skimmers and terns were actively feeding around Pitt Street Bridge. Many were catching fish in the creeks and harbor before carrying them back to their nests on nearby Crab Bank.

The reel only captures a small part of what we experienced. By the end of the afternoon, we had recorded nearly 30 bird species along with a Diamondback Terrapin, a mink, dolphins, a shark, a stingray, and plenty of fish activity.

Some days everything just comes together.

What’s the coolest thing you’ve seen at Pitt Street Bridge?
