Fall garden check: if you haven't started your cool-season crops yet, now's the window. Garlic goes in the ground in the coming weeks for a summer harvest, and it pairs well with companion plants like chamomile and yarrow nearby.
Don't have in-ground space? A deep container or half wh***ey barrel works just as well for garlic, just make sure it drains.
What are you planting for fall, in ground, raised bed, or containers? Drop it below.

Fall gardens start in late summer, not fall. If you wait until the leaves turn, you've already missed your window.

For a harvest before the year's out: fast growers like arugula, mustard greens, radishes, turnips, and baby kale can be ready in 3-6 weeks. Brussels sprouts actually get sweeter after a frost. And if you planted winter squash back in summer, butternut and acorn are coming in right about now.

Looking further out: garlic cloves go in now for a summer harvest next year, a patient trade-off worth making.

In-ground bed, raised bed, or a few containers, all of it works no matter what you're growing in.

Year-round tip: your soil never really "rests," in the ground or in a pot. Feed it between seasons and it'll feed you back

"Did you know tomatoes and basil aren't just a good pairing on your plate?

They're good in the garden too. Basil planted near tomatoes can help repel pests like hornworms and aphids, while some gardeners believe it even improves the tomato's flavor.

This is exactly the kind of thing I dig into in..

Harmonizing with Nature: Companion Planting and Natural Pest Control,
how the right plant pairings can do a lot of the work for you, no matter how much space you're working with.

It's cold out yes but I just keep thinking time to start prepping seeds growing season is coming!

It's time to plan out your garden for growing season. Some seeds can be started indoors now. Remember fruit tree seeds like apple need chill hours.
Getting beds ready so the soil is happy to receive their seedlings
