HUGE congratulations to our Cyber and Computer Sciences Department Head, Director of CDCI (Citadel DoD Cyber Institute), and as our students, faculty, and staff refer to him, the GOAT: Dr. Shankar Banik.
COL Linda Riedel, Deputy Director of Operations for CDCI, is currently deployed; however, when she returns home, she will be welcomed back to her job with open arms by her CDCI family here at The Citadel. COL Riedel nominated Dr. Banik for The Patriot Award to thank him for his direct support of her service to our country.

Last week, the nine Citadel CyberCorps Scholarship for Service (SFS) students attended an incredible in-person job fair, hosted by the SFS Program Office at OPM and NSF, in Washington, DC. Students had an opportunity to network and connect with several government agencies during the job fair, while also meeting SFS recipients from other colleges and universities.
As an added bonus, Dr. Banik and Dr. Verdicchio joined Citadel cyber alumnus (and SFS Scholar) Mr. Noah Wells for a meal to catch up!
Congratulations to our CyberCorps Scholarship for Service students on their many achievements thus far. We look forward to the greatness your future holds!
2022-2023 SFS Scholars:
Cadet Nathanael King, Cadet Nathanael Ling, Cadet Khalil Al-Nakhala, Cadet Annabelle Miller, Cadet Julius Gibson, Cadet Maximillian Tiberghien, Cadet Jessica Roginski, Cadet Finian Butcher and Cadet Benjamin Gilman.

Our team would like to say “thank you” to the students and faculty at the University of South Carolina for their collaboration during the Workshop on IoT Security, held recently in Swain Boating Center.
The workshop featured presentations from Citadel and USC students, and also reviewed the current/new projects, while allowing time for networking. Students and faculty from University of South Carolina and The Citadel jointly worked on this collaborative research project.
The workshop was funded by NCAE-C Research Grant from National Security Agency.
It was a wonderful experience for all involved and we look forward to exploring IoT Security in future workshops!

CDCI (Citadel DoD Cyber Institute) was honored to welcome Dr. Wanda Jones-Heath, Principal Cyber Advisor for the U.S. Air Force, to speak at a very special CDCI Cohort meeting earlier this week. CDCI was also thrilled to co-sponsor (along with Palmetto Roost) a Charleston Women In Tech event, featuring Dr. Jones-Heath as the keynote speaker.
Our students, faculty, and staff truly enjoyed engaging in conversation with Dr. Jones-Heath and learning about the evolution of her incredible career.
