This April, we’re honoring the legacy of Michael Leibowitz.

After losing Michael in 2024 in a plane crash, we wanted to find a way to carry forward something he cared deeply about: aviation, service, and helping other people rise. Flying was a huge part of his life for more than 50 years, and he believed strongly in pilot education, safety, and opening doors for the next generation.

So all month long, Katsubo will donate $1 from every frozen lemonade sold to support a student pilot scholarships at Charleston Southern University through the Michael W. Leibowitz Family Fund. Michael established this scholarship when he was still alive for future pilots. This helps his family carry it forward.

This is about more than a drink special. It’s about legacy.

You can support the cause by stopping in for a frozen lemonade, donating directly here: callexperts.com/michael

And this fundraiser also leads into the 2nd Annual Miles for Michael 5.12K, Run, Walk & Children’s Dash on May 17, 2026 at Charles Towne Landing. Register here:

🌍 Boeing Predicts a Massive Aviation Hiring Boom — 2.3 Million Jobs Coming! ✈️

Boeing just released a stunning forecast: over the next 20 years, the world will need 660,000 new pilots, 710,000 technicians, and 1 million cabin crew to keep up with aviation’s explosive growth. 🚀

Two main forces are driving this:
👨‍✈️ Aging crews retiring after decades in the skies
🌎 Fleet expansion and new global routes — especially in China, Eurasia, and North America

By 2044, airlines are set to take delivery of 43,600 new aircraft, mostly single-aisle jets powering short and medium-haul demand. These regions alone will make up 60% of all new hires.

The pilot pool — currently around 315,000 — is expected to nearly double, while cabin crew demand could triple in South and Southeast Asia.

Boeing says AI and virtual training will help meet demand, but hands-on, competency-based training will remain key to safety.

As Boeing’s Chris Broom put it: “We will keep the fleet flying safely by supporting workforce development.”

The question now is simple — who will step up to fly, maintain, and serve the next generation of aircraft? 🛫

Psalm 7:17 (CSB) reads, “I will thank the Lord for his righteousness; I will sing about the name of the Lord Most High.” Today is truly a day to rejoice in what the Lord is doing at CSU! Hallelujah!

For the past four years, Chucktown Flight Training (most recently doing business as Carolina Sky Flight Training) has provided CSU Aeronautics contracted flight training services with a critical eye for safety and quality. Our professional relationship with Jay and Amanda Aldea has always been one of deep respect for the invaluable quality service they have provided to our Flyin’ Bucs. We are grateful for their passion for student success and their extra-mile service.

As the demand for our collegiate flight training program grows, we continue to seek ways to improve how we serve our most precious asset--our students. The Aeronautics department faculty and staff are working hard to refine processes and enhance the experience of a CSU Aeronautics student. With this effort in mind, we are excited to reveal a momentous milestone for our program.

We are humbled and grateful to announce that Charleston Southern University has purchased Chucktown Flight Training, LLC. This is a momentous event for CSU Aeronautics as we move forward with in-house flight training!
