It’s Dino Week 🦖🦕

This week we traveled back in time to Jurassic Park! We are reading and writing all things dinosaurs! My classroom has been transformed into a Jurassic Jungle and these little paleontologists are hard at work excavating, researching, and learning. This might be my new favorite week of the year!

I have already learned about so many new dinosaurs from my curious young scientists!
What is your favorite dinosaur?

This. Right. Here. 😍
This is why I teach. We are finally in a routine with school and my kiddos have started getting creative with their writing. When they create a piece of writing all on their own and are so proud to share, my heart melts. Days like today make all the stress of the year worth it ❤️

New Resource Alert 🌟

Hot off the press! I just released my new Black History Month bundle! This bundle includes Chadwick Boseman, Barack Obama, and Bob Marley! Activities include short biographies, vocabulary words, creative writing sheets, and design activities! Seesaw links are included for each project for digital learning!
You can find the link to my store at the link in my bio!

I loved creating these resources and would love to make more! Who would your kiddos love to learn more about?

Today totally ROCKED 🤘

Today was day one of our week and it was SO MUCH FUN!

We started our week with a glow room transformation and read about the history of bowling. After reading, students answered questions with their teams. If they answered questions correctly, they were given a chance to move a game piece on our connect four board! This was the perfect game for both my virtual kids and in person kids!

What are you doing to rock your school this week?

It’s GLOW time, y’all!
I haven’t been this excited about teaching in SO long! Room transformations and games in the classroom bring me so much joy and it’s been over a YEAR since I’ve been able to do this!

I’ve definitely had to make adjustments for a socially distant in-person class and an entirely virtual class. But it’s worth it. It’s worth every second of time spent. For the first time in a long time, I am excited for school on Monday and I can’t wait to see the look on my kiddos’ faces ❤️

Have you done glow games before? What ideas or suggestions do you have?!

🎶 Don’t worry, about a thing...” 🎶

I am so excited to celebrate Bob Marley’s amazing legacy with my students tomorrow! We will be reading, writing, and doing all things art related to celebrate the birthday of a truly gifted musician!

Black History Month is one of my favorite times of the year because there are just so many creative, passionate, and motivated people we can learn about! Who are some of your favorite people to study this month?

Guess Who’s Back?

It’s me! I’m back! After 2 months of being away from my home sweet classroom, I finally got to work in my room today! After quarantine, winter break, and our district having teachers work from home over the last month, it’s been wayyyyy to long since I’ve been in my building!

Today was a work day for us and it was much needed! I spent the day figuring out scheduling, seating arrangements, and lessening planning! Although I broke 2 nails, a pencil sharpener, and a straightener, I managed to get a lot done and I. Am. Ready! Bring on the kiddos tomorrow!

What model is your school currently using?

It’s the most wonderful time of the year 🎉

Our district just announced we will be going back to hybrid next week! And while I will still have a virtual class, I cannot wait to be in a classroom with kids again ❤

Rock Your School is coming up, and it’s the perfect time for our room transformation! Although it will look a little different this year, I cannot wait to turn on the black lights, crack alllll the glow sticks, and rock with my third graders! Making learning fun brings me so much joy and I have missed completely transforming our classroom environment!

How are you planning to rock your school this year?

Nerdy Birdy right here 🙋‍♀️

I absolutely adore this book and it’s message! day is right around the corner and this book is perfect for showing students that being different isn’t a bad thing. In fact, it’s pretty cool! I love introducing acceptance, diversity, and kindness with this amazing read aloud. One of my favorites of the year!

What are some of your favorite read alouds for Random Acts of Kindness Day?

Hello peeps!

My name is Casey Dorsey and I am a third grade teacher in South Carolina. Reading and history are my favorite things to teach - but I also love a good writing lesson! Student engagement through the arts is my passion and I strive to create an environment that fosters learning and growth for my students. I have taught kindergarten through third grade and loved them all! I believe that all students can learn and have FUN while doing it!
Thank you for joining me on this crazy ride! I hope you can find some joy in reading about my teaching adventures!
