1D had a blast today! They found footprints, gold dust, coins, and shamrocks- all evidence that a sneaky leprechaun has visited the school. Students danced an Irish jig and celebrated with shamrock pie and lime and orange floats!
The leprechaun made his rounds today at Ashley River and he is still on the loose. He left a trail of glitter, gold, and happiness!

ARCA Families and Staff:
You are invited to the opening night at James Island County Park Festival of Lights, tonight, Friday, November 11th. Our 5th grade Community Art Club painted this wonderful entry into the Giant Greeting Card competition. Let’s cheer them on!

Below is from JI County Park:

“ Thank you for your patience as I have just received word on the status of Opening Night. We will open and operate on a normal schedule tomorrow, Friday, November 11. The gates will open at 5:30 p.m. The Opening Ceremony will begin at 7:00 PM with the announcement of the Greeting Card winners. Please arrive early enough to get through traffic and allow yourselves time to park. The presentations will take place at the picnic center, but the road is closed so you will have to park in one of the designated areas and walk over. The greeting cards are located across the street from the picnic center. If you are unsure of the location, it is where the marshmallow roasting and carousel attractions are. It is called “Santa’s Village” and you will report to the small portable stage.

The winners in the 3 divisions will receive a plaque and cash awards! “

Go Unicorns!

I cannot resist these cute Kinders working so hard on their colorful spider webs in art. They learn about spiders (ask them what they are…arachnids!), create a detailed web from scratch, and paint each section with watercolors. This project connects to science and math while working on their fine motor skills. So fun! If I were a spider, I’d wanna live on these webs for sure!!

I absolutely love doing this art project with 3rd grade! I mean who doesn’t love sparkly million year old rocks! We learned how geodes are formed and made our own geode artwork using watercolor pencils, marker, and epsom salts. The best part, breaking open real geodes and seeing what they looked like inside! Don’t be surprised if your 3rd grader wants to go geode hunting!

Check out CCSD’s accomplishments this past school year! Ashley River is featured on pages 6, 15, 33, 55, and 58. 🦄

It is with great pleasure that Charleston County School District presents our successes from the 2021-22 school year in this annual CCSD Year In Review.

After several years of adjustments to deal with the issues related to the pandemic, we finally had a full school year with the
most normal conditions we have had in three years.

This publication features each of the schools in CCSD and highlights the recognitions, awards, and special accomplishments of the past year in our school district.

We have nationally-recognized schools, state winners in various competitions, state champions, and locally-recognized programs that add to the quality of education in the schools of Charleston County.

Important Information regarding school meals for 2022-2023
CCSD Nutrition Services

For the past two years, Congress allowed the United States Department of Agriculture to grant waivers allowing all students to eat for free. These waivers were granted to reduce barriers that school nutrition programs would have ensured all students had access to nutritious meals, regardless of their family financial situation. A requested extension of the pandemic relief funds was not included in a spending bill approved by the U.S. Congress earlier this year which means the free meal waivers will expire. This means that starting in August of 2022, we will return to pre-pandemic operations.

Breakfast and lunch prices for students will be as follows for the 2022-2023 school year

Breakfast Prices
Full Price Student $1.40
Reduced Price Student $0.30
Adult Price $2.75

Lunch Prices
Full Price Student $2.25
Reduced Price Student $0.40
Adult Price $4.25
