It’s our end of the week photo dump! Here’s a look at some of the memories we made in December from our Literacy STEAM initiative (paper airplane contest) to a 3rd grade in-school pottery field trip with Pluff Mudd Pottery and so much more in between!

Our 5th grade scholars wrapped up their Module 1 Performance Task by reading their monologues last week. The characteristic in this lesson is apply my learning, because our scholars are sharing what they have learned about human rights with an audience. ELEducation

Last Wednesday our faculty and staff gathered for some holiday fun complete with music, food and games. Who was the winner? Watch each round to find out!! Thanks to our vendors Balloon Bash Charleston & Chef Tater Coaxum and our awesome James Island Elementary School PTA!!!

We have heard about some of the plans and trips our JIES families have locked in for the break! If you want to share them and be featured in our stories email them to us! More than anything we want everyone to have fun, make memories and be safe!!!

What a wonderful way to turn a read aloud into a hands on experience! Ms. Gunnells and Ms. Rossi’s students made edible snowmen ⛄️ to go along with our school wide read aloud Sneezy the Snowman! Great job CJ!!

🐝 Congratulations to our spelling bee winner Simon (white shirt) who will represent JIES at the district bee next month and 1st Runner Up Lucas (yellow jacket)! We had 14 students participate in our school wide bee! 🐝

Say hello to Natalie! Natalie is another sweet and kind member of our Safety Patrol group this year. Her favorite things to do are write books and sew dresses and her favorite color is purple. She likes the movie Jumanji and loves sushi. When she grows up she wants to become a fashion designer and seeing her family in Virginia brings her lots of happiness! Thanks, Natalie, for all you have done to help out this year

Say hello to Maggie! Maggi has been at JIES since CD and we are glad to have her on Safety Patrol this year! She loves all things Art, her favorite color is sky blue, and when she grows up she wants to be a lawyer! Her family makes her happy and if she had one wish in the world it would be to be the smartest person on Earth! Thank you, Maggie, for helping out your school this year.

THIS WEEK AT JIES!!! We are excited about our Spelling Bee and our Holiday Parade! We have Math iReady Winter Diagnostic this week (Monday-Wednesday), an in-school 5th Grade field trip on Tuesday, and a Half Day on Friday (10:25am Dismissal).

CONGRATULATIONS coaches and our basketball team who kicked off the season with TWO wins over Chicora and Ashley Ridge!!! The next game is Saturday, December 17. We will be releasing their schedule soon.
