Students and teachers have been having so much fun all around Charleston, enjoying the Teacher Experiences won at the Harbor Knights auction! Thank you to our parents and fourth-grade team for this making this escape room adventure possible - looks like they made it out safely! 👏

Summer Academy! Second graders learned about tide pools this week. Students traveled around the room to find tide pool animals and write about them for a “write the room” activity. They also listened to the animated story, “A House for Hermit Crab”, by Eric Carle, and then acted out challenging vocabulary words from the story.

Summer Academy! Students, who have been learning about flight and aircrafts this week, were thrilled to welcome police officers who brought an airboat to school! Since airboats function much like an aircraft, using air to propel rather than water, the visit fit perfectly into our lessons. We also enjoyed a visit from a pilot who talked with students about getting a pilot license and how the training process works. ✈

Summer Academy! 3rd-6th grade students began drawing their own Rainbow Row illustrations, strengthening drawing skills while exploring cityscapes, composition, and scale. Next, they'll outline their work with Sharpie and bring it to life in watercolor! 🎨

Summer Academy! In InDI (STEM), second graders discussed the order of the planets in our solar system and analyzed their distance from the sun relative to each other using a model built from toilet paper squares. Earth is only 2 1/2 squares from the sun while Neptune is 76 squares away! 💫🌏
