Wondering what Kindergarten Observation is like? Students are welcomed into the kindergarten classroom by the teacher and kindergarten assistant. Students enjoy story time with the teacher and playtime at rotating centers which involve counting, writing, cutting, sorting, and other skills. The kindergarten teaching teams observe the children and complete a rubric for each student. The rubric measures listening skills, peer interactions, and active participation.

What a heart-warming morning enjoying our Holiday Program! First graders performed the nativity, and students sang and played instruments. While the program has changed some over the years, it remains a very special MPS tradition - we are sure our alumni out there can remember the parts they played as first graders! Thank you to our students, first grade teachers, faculty and staff, and - especially - our Music Teacher Mr. McCoy for this cheerful start to the holiday break!
At Mason Prep, we believe we can make the world a better place by treating others with dignity and respect. Our entire student body recites the Mason Prep Pledge together on Monday mornings as a reminder of how we should interact with others.
Third grade Hanukkah party!
Sneak Peek: Ms. Criscuolo shared these photos of the 5th graders working on a surprise addition to the set for the holiday program. 🤫
Kindergarteners had a pajama day today! Says Ms. Kaiser, "We enjoyed decorating gingerbread cookies, sipping on cocoa, going on a gingerbread hunt around school, and getting cozy with our books, stuffed animals, and blankets." What a fun and festive day!
4th graders enjoyed a day of Holiday Forensic Science recently. Says Ms. Fairey, "Students learned how to make inferences using observations and clues in order to make educated theories as to what happened to 6 different candy canes." What a creative and engaging activity!
Second graders enjoyed a visit from local author/illustrator Cynthia Andrews this week. Ms. Andrews, who recently retired from teaching at Ashley Hall, introduced students to her book, Engel, "...a Victorian Christmas tale set in nineteenth century Charleston..." (myengel.com). Thank you to Ms. Andrews for sharing you beautiful work with us!
Toys for Tots
Kindergarteners visited Target this morning to shop for toys to donate to Toys for Tots. The students have been earning money to buy toys by doing chores at home and in their neighborhoods. After picking out toys, they delivered them to the News 2 TV station! Thank you to all the MPS families who also donated toys, to Toys for Tots, and to Rob Fowler Storm Team 2 - there will be lots of smiles in our community this year!
