Dan Mallaro, 85 passed away on March 20, 2024.

A celebration of life will be held on March 30 from 10 am to noon at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home in Charles City. A funeral mass at Immaculate Conception Church to be held prior to interment, at a date to be determined.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to The Charles City Educational Foundation.

I was up in north Iowa over the weekend and dropped by to see Travis in Waterloo on my way home on Sunday. He was about the same as when I saw him in October, from what I could tell…he’s not in a very good place, mentally. He told me he doesn’t like having a window in his room because he doesn’t like seeing outdoors if he can’t go out there. It’s awfully sad. I asked him if he had gotten any cards or letters from other classmates…or if any came to visit him. He said no. He seems to have an impeccable memory when I talk to him. Please reach out if you have some time. I’m sure he’d appreciate it so much.
