Let’s get this petition over 500 signatures! Geauga County schools stand to lose $3M+ if the commissioners decide to invoke their powers to override voter approved funding 🤯
Let the commissioners know that negating our votes with this bandaid solution isn’t the way to bring about property tax reform. They’ll be voting on June 23rd.

Update on the Piggyback Provision: the Commissioners did not vote on a resolution to enact it at today’s meeting. They listened to public comment from school districts but did not respond to district concerns over lost funds. It is expected that they’ll vote on a resolution next week, which means we have more time to sign and share the petition. The $800k Chardon schools stands to lose = 8-10 staff members. Not on our watch!

As early as June 16th, the Commissioners will vote on a resolution to enact the “Piggyback Provision.”

This provision doubles the homestead exemption and owner occupancy tax credit without a reimbursement from the state. This means the “tax relief” comes by cutting voter-approved funds from public schools, senior services, safety services, municipalities, libraries, parks, and other public institutions and services.

Please sign the petition below, asking the Commissioners not to enact this provision.
