The Chardon Board of Education recognized Dr. Michael Hanlon at its August meeting for his reception of the Martha Holden Jennings Foundation Superintendent of the Year 2026 award.

The Martha Holden Jennings Foundation recognizes educators for the differences they make in the lives of students, colleagues, and communities on a daily basis. The Foundation’s Superintendent of the Year recognition is one of the highest honors bestowed upon a public school leader in Ohio, awarded only after a rigorous selection process that requires a nomination from the school board president.

This honor brings a $10,000 grant to the Chardon Local School District in the superintendent’s honor. This grant will directly benefit our students and staff.

📸: Thursday evening was the first Hilltopper Varsity Football game of the 2026 season as well as the first community tailgate, hosted by the Chardon Gridiron Club.

Chardon High School has been ranked among the top high schools across the United States according to U.S. News and World Report.

In the latest rankings, CHS ranked:

- 1,388th nationally (top 5% of all high schools);
- 50th in Ohio (out of 974 high schools);
- 16th in the Cleveland, OH Metro Area.

This impressive ranking is a testament to the hard work and dedication shown on a daily basis by our CHS staff and students and it is a clear picture of the district’s commitment to high achievement for all students.

The Chardon Board of Education was pleased to recognize Angelina Colombi for her impressive performance at the 2026 OHSAA Gymnastics State Championship earlier this year.

At the championship meet, Angelina earned eighth place out of 36 competitors on uneven bars, finishing with an 8.950 score out of 10.000.

Angelina received a certificate of athletic achievement during the board’s August meeting.

Congratulations Angelina on your fantastic achievement!

Chardon Middle School recently received a generous donation from the Geauga County Court of Common Pleas of backpacks fully packed with school supplies and disinfecting supplies for classroom teachers. The donation was dropped off by Magistrate Kevin Starrett.
