The administrator of Geauga County Homeschool is Jen Gorton, a local homeschool mom who served with her husband on the board of CHEO, the state's oldest non-profit homeschool organization. For 20 years Jen also co-led Pearls, a long time Geauga County homeschool group. She has five children and has graduated four from home education; her youngest will graduate this school year.

Update:
POSTPONED: We apologize for the confusion, but this year's Hunters Education Course has been postponed due to circumstances beyond our control, an unexpected reconfiguration of the Ohio Division of Wildlife's online registration and licensing system. We will post again as soon as the course can be rescheduled. Thanks for understanding!

For those interested.

Geauga Park District is pleased to provide an annual Hunter Education Course to train young and beginner hunters on safety, archery, ammunition, ethics and conservation, and this year, we're doing it a little differently.

Study materials will be available for pickup beginning September 1 from Big Creek Park's Meyer Center, open weekdays 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. These materials must then be reviewed at home in advance of the in-person session, which is Saturday, October 17, also at the Meyer Center from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Class time will consist of hands-on training, demos, videos and instruction with a Geauga Park District ranger and culminate in a 100-question test. Please note that all participants under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

To attend this year's Hunter Education Course, pick up your materials as early as September 1 to begin studying, then registration opens September 17 through the Ohio Division of Wildlife's website at https://oh-web.s3licensing.com/Event/Search.

Time to start thinking about sending in your exemption form to your LOCAL superintendent ONLY. You have until August 30th.

Remember to send via certified mail or hand in personally and get it and a copy for you, time stamped.

We recommend the above ways. That way you know for sure it went to the superintendent as the law states.

If you have questions, please let us know!
