Chapman High School Alumni Association

On the seniors last day of school the Alumni Association wanted to recognize the Class of 2020 as they become members of the Alumni Association this weekend. We ask if you are an alumna of CHS, DCHS, or DCCHS to please "like" our new page for announcements and information. Spread the word!

While the Alumni Association is disappointed that we will not be able to host our banquet this year, we did not want the opportunity to pass without awarding our scholarships for the Class of 2020. Any student that applied for the Irish Foundation Scholarship was added to the wheel. Two students were chosen at random. Congratulations to our students and best wishes to the Class of 2020.

Excellence in Education JT

Our final recognition this week is the "Excellence in Education" award. Each year, our National Honor Society members vote on a staff member and recognize them for their work within the field of education. This year, our NHS voted on this award in February before we moved to an online learning environment. As you will see in this video, the staff member they recognized and sentiments shared by our students have proven to be very true in this difficult time.

Congratulations to Jennifer Tiller. Our winner of the "Excellence in Education" award winner for 2020. Presented by Valerie Rodriguez, NHS President.

It is "Teacher Appreciation Week" and we cannot think of a staff that deserves more appreciation than the staff at CHS. They have been nationally recognized by being one of the best 4A schools in the State of Kansas.

Recognized for our Irish Hub, School Run Businesses, Exceptional Fine Arts Programs, Second to None CTE programs, and Standards Based Grading...Chapman High School teachers are truly innovators in the field of Education. In the face of a global pandemic, they have worked tirelessly to support our students as best they can from home.

As you drive through our community, you will see signs that recognize the teachers of Chapman High School who go above and beyond.

Shout out to the teachers of CHS!

Congratulations to our first class of Salina Tech Certification students!

Congratulations to the following students who earned Salina Tech Certifications while in high school. These students went to SATC at 6:40 am their junior year of high school. Clearinghouse Video

Each April, Chapman High School hosts Academic Award Night. At those awards, seniors are recognized with scholarships and school awards. This week we will honor the Class of 2020 with a virtual version of Academic Awards Night.

Today we are starting with our "Student of the Year" award recognition. Each department votes on their senior "student of the year". Our staff then coordinated with our senior's parents so we were able to present these awards in person but six feet away.

The second S is for Suggestions. We have put together a list of suggestions that we believe will help students be more successful during this time. The third S is for Stuck? If you are stuck or confused as to what our schedule entails please read the Q&A with the High School Administration.

Continuous Learning – Chapman High School

Chapman High School will begin school again on Monday, March 30th! We will be providing a schedule by the end of this week. We will use two online platforms; Zoom for face to face contact (all students will do is follow a link) and Google classroom that students are familiar with assignment completion. Over 90% surveyed said they do have internet access. If not, we will be contacting those households directly for an alternative method of learning. We are working to build in our “new” schedule; flexibility, break time and physical activity. We understand that life is changing all around us. Siblings need to be cared for, extra hours are needed at work, and homes are sharing technology and devices. We will record our lessons and Zoom meetings to meet your student’s needs. Our staff, as always, will do everything possible to allow learning to take place when you are able. CHS is even trying to figure out how to digitally create Irish Hub! As always, our main goal is the students. If you need anything, please reach out.

Check out our new webpage that will have information regarding continuing learning this spring!
