Established in 2009, we’ve been providing personalized education for over 16 years. Odyssey Online Learning has educated thousands of high school students since 2009. Odyssey Online Learning serves students state-wide in South Carolina and is a tuiton-free public high school. The mission of Odyssey Online Learning is to provide a high-quality education for a wide variety of students by offering alternative solutions to traditional schooling while assisting students in achieving the knowledge and skills to reach their highest potential within a flexible and tailored educational program that fosters lifelong learning.

With 18 years in education and in her 3rd year at Odyssey Online Learning, Mrs. Jessica Brakefield brings a wealth of experience - and a love for helping students succeed - to her role as an English Teacher! ✏️✨

For Mrs. Brakefield, teaching is about more than academics. She loves building relationships with students and families and supporting them throughout their educational journey. This year, she’s especially excited to get to know a new group of ninth graders and help them start their high school experience strong! 💙

Her #1 advice for OOL students? Attend your live lessons! 💻🙌 They’re an important part of staying connected, engaged, and successful at OOL.

💙 CELEBRATING NATIONAL PRINCIPALS' MONTH 💙

October is National Principals Month, so it's the perfect time to spotlight our High School Principal, Mr. Rocky Cooper! 🎉📚

With 24 years in education and now beginning his 6th year at OOL, Mr. Cooper says one of his favorite parts of his role is building relationships and helping students find success.

His advice to students? COMMUNICATE! 📣

"Don't suffer in silence. We're here to help however we can, so let us help."

And his favorite time of year? Graduation! 🎓 Seeing our students and their families face to face and celebrating everything they've accomplished is always the highlight of his year.

🏈 FUN FACT: Mr. Cooper has been part of TWO state championship football teams - one as a player and another as a coach!

Outside of school, he enjoys camping with his family and fishing. 🎣🏕️

During National Principals Month, we're especially grateful for Mr. Cooper's leadership, experience, and commitment to our students and the OOL community. Thank you for all you do, Mr. Cooper! 💙

💙 STAFF HIGHLIGHT: MEET MRS. COLBY NILSEN! 💙

With 16 years in education and now in her second year at Odyssey Online Learning, Mrs. Colby Nilsen serves our students and families as our Middle School Counselor, and she also leads OOL's Community Outreach. 🌟

For Mrs. Nilsen, being a school counselor is all about meeting students where they are and partnering with families to help them grow - both academically and personally. One of her biggest pieces of advice for students is to create a daily routine, stay organized, and never be afraid to ask for help! 📚🙌

This year, she’s especially excited about connecting with students through field trips, community events, and our monthly Middle School Career Cafés! 💙

And here’s a fun fact you may not know: Mrs. Nilsen was a competitive dancer until she was 20! 💃 These days, she also enjoys playing games, reading, and spending time on the lake with friends and family. ☀️📖

We’re grateful to have Mrs. Nilsen supporting, encouraging, and connecting with our Middle School students and families!
