With more than a decade of experience, Rakiya is passionate about delivering equitable, inclusive care and ensuring every patient feels heard, respected, and empowered throughout their healthcare journey. Her work focuses on improving maternal health outcomes, expanding access to midwifery care, reducing primary cesarean rates, and addressing disparities that disproportionately impact Black and Brown birthing people.

A champion for education, mentorship, and community support, Rakiya also helped establish Stony Brook’s Fourth Trimester Support Group, providing vital resources for patients during the postpartum period.
