Our Story

The UNC Zebrafish Aquaculture Core (ZAC) operates as an IACUC regulated Animal Facility and provides zebrafish husbandry and training services. The ZAC has a capacity of >5,500 liters and 27,500 fish in the main facility and 480 liters and 2400 fish in a separate quarantine room.

The following services are available:
*Zebrafish embryos (several wild-type and transgenic lines available)
*Facilities for zebrafish microinjection and light stereomicroscopy
*Transgenic and mutant line generation:
-----in 6-8 months
-----for as little as $600 (prices vary)
-----using TALEN and CRISPER/Cas9 mediated precise genome editing
*Training for zebrafish embryo handling, microinjection, and light stereomicroscopy
