Day 2 of the 13th Annual Research in Education and Practice Symposium (REPS) was another outstanding day at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy!

The HSPAL Track continues to be an incredible opportunity for residents to share all the great research the complete throughout the year — creating space for meaningful discussion, networking, feedback, and leadership growth across programs and institutions.

Our residents and preceptors both had some professional development sessions as well today. Residents had the opportunity to hear from David Weiss on Financial Planning 101, while preceptors participated in a valuable session led by Mollie Scott, PharmD, BCACP, CPP, FASHP, FNCAP focused on generational challenges related to precepting and leadership development. Both sessions sparked thoughtful discussion and provided practical insights that attendees can take back to their organizations and residency programs.

A huge thank you to all of the residents, preceptors, faculty, speakers, and attendees who helped make this year’s REPS such a success. We are already looking forward to next year!

If your residency program is interested in participating in future REPS programming, please reach out to [email protected] for more information.

Today we kicked off the 13th Annual Research in Education and Practice Symposium (REPS) at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy — our version of the Eastern States, Great Lakes, and SERC Residency Conferences!

REPS provides pharmacy residents and postgraduate trainees the opportunity to showcase the outstanding research and projects they are leading, receive meaningful feedback from preceptors and faculty, network with colleagues across programs, and participate in professional development sessions focused on advancing practice and leadership.

Excited to see the incredible research, innovation, and leadership being showcased over the next two days. Looking forward to learning from our colleagues and celebrating the outstanding work happening across pharmacy education and practice.

Our Health-System Pharmacy Administration & Leadership (HSPAL) Track continues to provide both HSPAL and non-HSPAL residents the opportunity to present alongside PAL peers and receive focused, leadership-oriented feedback to further strengthen their work and professional growth.

A huge thank you to Erin Maxwell, PharmD, BCPS and Gregory Heindel, PharmD, MPH for their outstanding keynote presentation, “When the Bar Moves: How Pharmacists Can Protect Evidence-Based Care,” and for challenging attendees to think critically about the pharmacist’s role in advancing and protecting evidence-based care.

Yesterday, our MS in Pharmacy Administration & Leadership (PAL) team had the opportunity to participate in the PACE Strategic Planning Retreat—an energizing and highly productive day focused on shaping the future of our division.

It was incredibly valuable to step outside of our day-to-day environment and engage in thoughtful discussion around where PACE is heading and how we continue to grow our impact across education, practice, and leadership development. The level of collaboration, insight, and candid feedback across the group made it clear that we are building something truly meaningful together.

We’re excited about what’s ahead and how the MS PAL program will continue to align with and contribute to the broader strategic vision.

A big thank you to everyone who helped make the day a success, from thoughtful facilitation to seamless coordination—and to all who contributed their perspectives.

Honored to celebrate a truly special moment this week at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy.

We had the privilege of recognizing Rowell Daniels, PharmD, MS, Chief Operating Officer of UNC Hospitals, as the inaugural recipient of the Practice Leader Legacy Award, an award established to honor individuals who exemplify exceptional leadership, innovation, and service in Pharmacy Administration & Leadership.

Rowell’s impact on the UNC MS program and the broader profession is profound. His longstanding commitment to developing future leaders, advancing practice, and investing in people truly embodies the spirit of this award.

Throughout the day, Rowell engaged with faculty, students, alumni, and health system leaders—highlighted by an interactive roundtable and a powerful seminar titled:

“Pharmaceutical Calculations and Other Not-so-scientific Professional Aspirations.”

His reflections on leadership, career growth, and the human side of our profession were both insightful and inspiring.

Grateful to have leaders like Rowell shaping the future of pharmacy.
