Creating equitable access to music education by pairing children with college mentors to inspire resilience and confidence.

Musical Empowerment is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that pairs children in under-served communities with college students who volunteer their time by providing free music lessons. Music teachers and social workers in the local school systems identify and refer students who have the potential to benefit from the program. Established in 2002, Musical Empowerment now offers over 250 weekly lessons between i

ts eight chapters at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, North Carolina State University, Wake Forest University, East Carolina University, Dartmouth College, High Point University, North Carolina Central University, and Hunter College.

Strike-A-Chord is officially over! Thank you all for donating to support music education for all!
Congrats to UNC and UCLA for raising over $2,400 dollars each during Strike-A-Chord! Combined, more than half of our $10k goal was reached by these two chapters.

We at Musical Empowerment are excited to bring you our biggest annual chapter-run fundraiser, Strike A Chord! From February 14-21, individual chapters will raise money to help support our 200+ student-mentor pairs. These donations help provide free one-on-one music lessons as well as new instruments for the students we serve. We can't wait to see you all participating in Strike A Chord!
