I have never and will never officiate a wedding ceremony on a plantation. When I moved to North Carolina three years ago I truly was horrified to learn that plantations were wedding venues. I had no idea that there was a movement to decrease the influence of plantations on wedding sites. While I hate for these businesses to lose money, thatβs the least that can happen given the blood that was shed on the land.

It may seem like a good idea at the time, and you get what you pay for has been my experience. A professional officiant is someone who has been seminary trained. Not Internet ordained. I donβt think a couple would hire a friend as a caterer just because they like to cook at home. Same with an officiant. Go for the professional.
