Join us from 5:30-7 PM at the Love House on Jan. 28 for our first book event of 2026! CSAS welcomes writer, composer, and director Sylvester Allen Jr. and professor Belle Boggs (Department of English, NCSU), authors of The Legend of Wyatt Outlaw: From Reconstruction through Black Lives Matter (UNC Press/Ferris & Ferris Books, 2026), in conversation with Gene Nichol (UNC School of Law).

This work recovers the life and 1870 lynching of Outlaw, a prominent Black business owner and leader in the North Carolina Piedmont. Co-sponsored by UNC Press and the Sonja Haynes Stone Center for Research in Black Culture and History.
