Friends, please take a minute to check out the latest Carolina Photojournalism Workshop project, "Rooted in the Rapids." It tells the story of the people and culture in the Roanoke River Valley of North Carolina through 15 beautiful short films. I'm proud of our student producers and alumni coaches, these projects represent a ton of time and effort for all of us. This is the 13th year of CPJW, and along with the films this year's site contains links to all past projects. Shoutout to the all who have helped make CPJW great over the years!

The Roanoke River in North Carolina holds countless stories- of struggle and triumph, enduring and caring.

We are thrilled to announce that our project has been nominated for Webby Awards! Living Galápagos has been selected as one of the five best in the world in the Travel & Adventure category.

While the Academy selects its Webby Winner in each category, every Webby Nominee also contends for a Webby People's Voice Award as selected by the voting public.

Three of our Living Galapagos alumni Julia Wall, Carolyn Van Houten, and Kathryn Carlson are currently in San Francisco competing in the 2013 Hearst National Championship in photojournalism and multimedia! We have a few new styles of content, from longer multimedia articles to a learn page. What are some of your favorite features from the new site?

We took a 1 song dance party break after 5 hours working hard to prepare for the website launch.

We're 3 hours into what could be our last lock-in!
The team is working hard to get the site updated and launched with all of the content from the 2013 project.
It's a little stressful, but also exciting - we can't wait to be able to share all of our work!
