“I have always been a strong advocate for active learning...” 🧠✨ Meet Jayla Lindsey, our October Student Spotlight!
Jayla is currently in our Innovation Specialist concentration, and we are so excited to share her journey, goals, and purpose in her own words:
💡 On joining MEITE:
“I have always been passionate about improving the educational tools and practices used in classrooms. Living in Raleigh exposed me to innovative ideas for improving education, which inspired me to pursue the Innovation Specialist concentration so I could help bridge the gap between teachers who want to better serve their students and the effective tools and practices available to them.”
🕶️ Her favorite program memory:
“My favorite moment in the program so far has been building virtual reality museums... this project truly embodied that belief [in active learning] by allowing me to tap into my creativity while designing a museum around an archaeological site and creating a meaningful, engaging way for other students to learn about it.”
🏫 Her plans after graduation:
“After graduating from MEITE, I plan to teach in the classroom for a few years to strengthen my hands-on experience and better understand the needs of educators and students. From there, I hope to transition into a career in education product development, education research, education policy, or EdTech implementation roles...”
❤️ Her professional purpose:
“My purpose is to improve the education system for all stakeholders, including students, teachers, administrators, parents, and education professionals who pour their all into education. I want to help create meaningful improvements that allow everyone involved to see the benefits of their work...”
