UNC Health Care Marks Dementia Friendly Hospitals Day with Expansion of Special Training Program :: WRAL.com There are around 160,000 North Carolinians living with dementia, and that number is expected to grow to 260,000 in 20 years. A hospitalization, especially for someone with dementia, can be traumatic. This initiative aims to ameliorate this situation.
UNC Research is forming a coalition of Aging researchers on campus
Programs like ours in NC have trained almost 10% of all the faculty members who signed up for faculty development in geriatrics last year!
The Health Resources and Services Administration reports that NC has the most sites by far training primary care providers in geriatrics
