The Community School for People under Six (CSPU6) was established in 1970 as a parent/staff cooperative. CSPU6 provides early care and education for children ages 2 months through 8 years without regard to race, color, s*x, religion, national origin, or ancestry. We promote cultural, racial, gender, and socioeconomic diversity among families, staff, and board directors. At the Community School, al
l program activities are designed to build a sense of community and an appreciation for diversity, making our program a unique day school offering a multicultural, community-based program to children and families in the Carrboro/Chapel Hill area. We have a special focus on nutrition and gardening. Children and staff learn about growing and harvesting fresh fruits and vegetables that are served at meals within the classroom.
