As our nation marks 250 years since its founding, we recognize both the ideals upon which America was founded and the generations of people who have challenged her to more fully live up to those ideals.

As graduate and professional students at the nation’s first public university, we inherit more than a legacy of scholarship—we inherit a responsibility to pursue truth, confront injustice, serve our communities, and use our knowledge to build a future where opportunity is expanded, voices are heard, and every person is treated with dignity.

Happy Fourth of July from the Graduate and Professional Student Government; May we continue striving toward liberty and justice for all.

Today, we celebrate the resilience, achievements, and enduring contributions of Black Americans whose impact continues to shape Carolina, our nation, and the world.

As graduate and professional students, we are called to confront challenges through our scholarship, research, service, and leadership. We have the opportunity to build communities that are more equitable, inclusive, and reflective of the values we aspire to uphold.

We’ve tagged campus offices and organizations dedicated to supporting and celebrating Black students, faculty, staff, & alumni at UNC-Chapel Hill.
