Construction for the two new campus residence halls on the site of the existing Jackson Hall began Aug. 3. To support this work, fencing will be installed around the construction site. This project will require the closure of Cobb Drive and a portion of Paul Green Theatre Drive. Adjacent walkways and building entrances along the perimeter will also be closed. Pedestrians should remain alert to construction activity in this area and follow designated pedestrian routes. The Cobb Parking Deck will remain open throughout this project, and visitors and ND permit holders should access the lot from Country Club Road. For more information:

⚠️ TRAFFIC ALERT: The William Blythe Drive closure has been extended through Aug. 6 for Bernard Chiller Plant utility work.

Traffic will be detoured along Skipper Bowles Drive, Manning Drive, and Hibbard Drive. Drivers should allow extra travel time. Pedestrians should follow all detours and stay alert to traffic changes.

A portion of William Blythe Drive will close to through traffic beginning Monday, July 27, through Friday, July 31, in support of the installation of new utilities for the Bernard Chiller project. Traffic will be detoured along Skipper Bowles Drive, Manning Drive and Hibbard Drive. Drivers should allow for additional travel time when navigating this area of campus. A small brush fire was reported in the Carolina North Forest on Tuesday near the Neverlands Inner Loop at Mile Marker 7. Chapel Hill Fire Department, NC Forestry Service, and Carolina North personnel responded, and the situation was quickly contained. Some smoldering and smoke may continue for a few days, or until rainfall, and signage has been posted in the area. No trails are closed at this time, and Carolina North personnel continue to monitor the site.

🚧 Starting Wednesday, July 8, northbound traffic on South Columbia Street will not be allowed to turn right onto South Road, in support of a steam tunnel replacement project. More details available at https://ow.ly/RG8p50ZlKc0.

Drivers should expect lane reductions and detours when traveling through this area of campus.

All trails in the Carolina North Forest, including the Occoneechee Loop, are now open. Some areas may still show signs of recent fire activity and fire response efforts. Please use caution and avoid charred areas.

All trails in the Carolina North Forest have reopened except for the southwestern section of the Occoneechee Loop, which remains closed. Some areas may still show signs of recent fire activity and fire response efforts, so please use caution, especially on trails on the west side of the forest.

The brush fire in the Carolina North Forest remains contained and continues to be monitored. Hotspots are still smoldering, and smoky conditions may persist for several days. Some trails have also been impacted by fire response efforts.

All trails west of Seawell School Road and the railroad tracks will remain closed through Monday, May 25. Conditions will be reassessed on Tuesday, May 26.

Trails on the east side of the forest remain open. Please respect posted signage and avoid entering closed areas.
