🎉Congratulations, Professor Ziyu Chen!

The Department of Mathematics is thrilled to celebrate Professor Chen’s achievement of receiving a NSF grant supporting his research on structure-informed machine learning!

The project develops mathematical foundations for AI systems that leverage symmetries and other structures in data to make AI more efficient, reliable, data-efficient, and trustworthy. The research spans equivariant neural networks, symmetry-informed generative models, diffusion and flow-based models, learning theory, and uncertainty quantification, with potential applications in image analysis, molecular design, and video generation.
