โญ๏ธ ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT โญ๏ธ Surprised to know itโ€™s not Shatera behind these posts anymore?!?

Hello all! This is the amazing Shatera McNair, a Carolina alumna Class of 2022. Her time at Carolina was absolutely crucial for not only developing her identity but for crafting her leadership style in envisioning a better school system for all students, especially for students of color. Throughout her undergraduate studies in Sociology and Education, she was eager to learn about the inequities that schools reproduce and itโ€™s impact on staff, teachers, parents and students. It was fantastic to be able to bring her studies into the incredible service work at APPLES! As the APPLES Undergraduate Student Program Assistant (2020-2022), she was beyond happy for the opportunity to inform and support students in interacting with our service programs to best enhance their learning experiences in the classroom while also programmatically supporting Cabinet and staff leadership. Along with serving in adjacent leadership with Student Affairs, feeling long-standing support from APPLESโ€™ Cabinet and staff and the many that she has met at Carolina, Shatera has had the privilege to welcome freshmen into their first year of high school as a City Year AmeriCorps Member at their largest site in Chicago, IL! Letโ€™s put idealism to work by individually coaching students towards success and enacting anti-racist culture and policies in schools across the city! Go HEELS! โ˜บ๏ธ
